Agreed....bar room fights happen. But take a look at the real successful SEC coaches of the past, guys like a Bear Bryant, Johnny Vaught, or Vince Doley. I recall very little [if any] scandals involving players coached under these "Greats". They ran a tight ship when it came to discipline and conveyed clearly to their players their expectations as far as behavior.
Yeah internet, blogs, twitter, cell phone videos, instagram, and 4,000 television stations have nothing to do with the fact we barely heard about shite back in the day.
The world isn't getting worse, we are just hearing about everything in milliseconds and with video/picture proof because 95% of Americans have a damn camera cell phone. Without a camera phone present, there would be no arrest in this situation.
Oh and the fact football players these days come from lower-economic backgrounds than before. Theres a reason Yale and Harvard aren't good at football anymore.
People need to step back and think before they post. This thread is so fricking retarded.
The HS senior got a blowie from a HS freshman. That shite happens daily in this country with no repercussions. Then that same guy 3 years later got into a bar fight after being instigated by being called the worst possible racial slur that couldve been said to his face...twice.
Step back from the ledge people.

You think getting one from a 14 y/o girl is okay?
Within context.
A highschool senior and a freshman

A HS senior getting one from a HS freshman is AOK to me.
If consensual of course, which this was.

I guess it's easy for you to judge Hill's character based on a blow job and speculation about a bar fight.

Not the way it works when one is an adult.

Take a look at all the arrests at bama in the last 5 years
So you're saying we should try and increase the number of players that get in trouble to win championships? Interesting

A high school senior messing around with a high school freshman? Yeah, I have no moral objections to that.
Seniors have boning freshmen since the dawn of high school.

Miami, Ohio State, USC...
Look at all their great teams recently

But correct me if I'm wrong.....maybe I'm old fashioned since I believe that football is "simply" a game young men play in the fall, and that the real purpose of a football scholarship is to educate a young man [or young woman] in a profession of his/her choice.
Good day!
You're wrong if you want a winner these days. If you want all scholarship student athletes who are there for an education first, you should be a fan of a different program. Just sayin'

Nola.com article states:
"LSU RB Jeremy Hill punched victim from behind, celebrated, police report says".
Feel free to go check it out if you like.

Would you be ok with it if it took place in Alabama, since sexual contact with someone between 12 and 16 is legal if you are under 19?

Your business.
But it doesn't matter. Get caught; pay the price. He is about to. That's called life.
I'm not gonna make excuses for him. Obviously, he didn't learn his lesson, anyway.

I'll read on, but honestly I should have stopped here. The fact that you don;t remember any scandals invilving those programs is not any indication that there were no issues...just that they happened at a time when issues like this would have been swept away for the good of the program and been aided in doing so by local media. shite...that's like suggesting Babe Ruth wasn't a womanizing drunkard because it wasn't front page headlines all the time, despite every reporter alive knowing what he did.

It's not that you're wrong, it's that you're being naive. In 2013, the football programs of the Top 20 major programs bring in enormous dollars. To pretend these guys are simply scholar athletes is desiring to live with your head in the sand. If you want to pull for a team comprised solely of scholar athletes, my suggestion would be find a sold DIII program to root for because those guys are playing in most cases for the joy of playing the sport while hopefully getting their degrees.

Pretty sure he stopped getting blowies from freshmen after that.
I find it 100% excusable for a black man to beat the shite out of a white man that calls him the n-word twice to incite him.

Personally? Yep.
But it didn't, so that's a dumb analogy. What if it took place on Mars, where is no age limit?

So you're not ok with anything thats against the law, even if the law is fricking stupid?
Oh how much you need to learn about history.

Sure, and he is. Doesn't mean he has shitty character, especially when what he did isn't even illegal in all 50 states.

Who's making excuses? These 2 incidents are completely separate and the first has no bearing on the second.
