That’s good news as far as those, like myself, dreaming of a ny6 bowl. We need to win out and get below 15.
In addition:
State- lost to bama this weekend
Auburn- lose to uga and bama
Bama and uga both make playoff

If we dropped from 19 to 24 after a loss to Bama why would you expect State to fall more than 5 spots from 16 to 21 after losing to Bama?

The eye test. Oh and the score.

State would have 3 sec loses (if they lose to bama & win out) 5-3
we would be 6-2 in the sec

Best 3 loss team in the nation?

Exact same loss from last season and ranked the exact same ranking after that loss. We’re pretty consistent. Let’s see if we win out this time.

I hope you're right but I think they are going to see identical overall records and State winning the head to head vs LSU, plus one of our losses to Troy.
I agree that the eye test could put us ahead of State if Bama beats them by 30+. Will be interesting to see how it shakes out.

They would have to choose the next best SEC team which by conference record would be us.
Regardless we have to win out from here. State has to lose one or two which is possible and auburn has to lose twice. It’s all a long shot. I want ya to just finish strong. Whichever bowl we go to is behind finishing 10-3 in my eyes.

OK, I think I get what you're saying now... that the SEC is "tied" to a NY6 bowl even if we have 2 teams in the semifinals. So the team with the best standing in the SEC would go to a NY6 bowl. Are you sure that tie exists in that situation? It looks to me like the remaining bowls have no obligation to pick an SEC team, though they certainly have the option to use an at-large pick on an SEC team.
What I was thinking... the highest ranked team by the committee (they can rank how they want regardless of record or standings) would have the best shot at a NY6 at-large selection, since any SEC "tie" would be satisfied by both Bama and Georgia in the semifinals. In that sense we'd want to jump State in the eyes of the committee.
Also looking back at the 2014 bowl lineup, 3 SEC teams (Bama, Ole Miss, and State) played in NY6 bowls so it's certainly possible that an at-large goes to a third SEC school.

This incorrect. We hold H2H tie breaker over Auburn if LSU wins out and Aub loses one more SEC. If State loses to Bama they would have 3 SEC loses to our 2.
