This was an area that I always felt LSU could be better in this year. Aranda got creative and found ways to manufacture pressure at times by using Depit and Stevens in the box. I think this could make a HUGE improvement in 2019. DLine should be much improved and more experienced getting Lawrence back is key. Getting Chaisson back on the edge on one side and Divinity on the other side along with Stevens in that Hybrid LB/S role. Can also use Queen both inside and outside at LB and a guy I think is going to make a big impact immediately is Marcel Brooks, the kid is a FREAK athlete and can play all over the defense. He has been off the charts good at Army Bowl Practice this week. Expect him to get that 5* bump in the next update. I hate to be the “next year” guy but man it’s hard not to get excited about the potential of this team next year with the returning group and the class coming in.

I think the presence of a good edge player has been underrated.

Chaisson’s backups were nonfactors.

1.5 sacks from our #1 pass rushing position after Chaisson went down.

Him blitzing up the middle is going to be fun to watch in 2019...kids is super fast...like, almost as fast as Giles.

Needs to work on his aim.

Ran past a few tackles. He’ll get there

We haven’t recruited any or can’t coach pass rushers whatsoever. Losing Chassion is a big loss and should hurt but having absolutely nothing at all behind him is inexcusable.

Agree with all that.

Still, a defender getting past the line and pressuring the QB will always pay dividends for us, even if they miss and only throw the QB off a little.

It was nice seeing some pressure on the QB's in the A&M game and UCF game.

Of course it was UCF, so I would expect more pressure on the QB than an SEC opponent.

But yes the DL pass rush and run def needs to improve.
