LSU only has 42 players from LA, in 2019 there were 64

Can anyone name the guys from LA on this year's team that will be major contributors? Our 2019 roster was full of LA guys that were playmakers, this team, not so much.

when players started being able to be paid legally, recruiting became less regional. NIL wasn't a thing in 2019

College football is a completely different game now than it was in 2019. Even though it’s only been 7 years.

In all of 2026 FBS football, there are only three starting QBs that went to a Louisiana High School:
- Arch Manning (Texas)
- Rickie Collin’s (Kennesaw State)
- Landry Lyddy (USM)
Blame has to go on Louisiana High School Coaches for their lack of development of select skill players.
It doesn’t give LSU a lot of options even if it wanted to stay in state.

Don’t expect a Louisiana heavy roster under Lane. It’s all portal and a handful of high school guys

This is the new normal. NIL has changed the game. Its like the Saints not having many players from LA. These guys are professionals now.

Berry potentially
Bordelon starts but after last Saturday "major contributor" is TBD
Lamar Brown, McKinley, Richard Anderson, and Carpenter on DL
Spears and Wright pre-injury
As others have noted this is a new era of CFB. It's basically football's version of travel ball. Cobble together a team and go play.
Going forward, LSU still has an amazing natural recruiting footprint (LA, SE TX, Gulf Coast) and a strong NIL game. I hope this translates to more LA players coming here and staying here.
