LSU now has a HC who, if Miles had been fired last year

Wouldn't be a HC ANYWHERE significant this year.

That's just impossible to ignore. O is awesome, but if Miles were fired last year, O wouldn't have been in the top 20 of LSUs or anyone else's coaching list.

How in the hell did we get here from there?

I'm not going to sit here and say O will fail. That's dumb. But it is flat out irrefutable that we just "landed" a recruit no one other than us wanted.

That's disconcerting

Kind of like Jacob Hester?

There's nothing really to get over.

I'll be watching next year like always.

But. The offseason anticipation will be nonexistent.

LSU isn't supposed to be recruiting against no one. We're not Florida A&M

Which is why I said I'm not going to sit here and say he WILL fail.

But. You have to acknowledge that Hester was the exception to lowly recruits, not the rule

say what you want but the decision has been made. Cant say i'm excited but it is what it is. i will not judge until i see who O hires as offensive cord. If he does great with this, locks up aranda and finishes strong in recruiting then he has passed his first test.

We are not the preeminent program some of us thought we were. The culture changed when saban was brought here. Before that, we were the hard drinking, good time program that people knew played hard, but we were never really a contender. Yes, we would pop a big boy in the mouth every so often, but we weren't a big boy.

That culture has been brought back. I think ita pathetic, but it looks like that's what most of our fan base wants.

You make a valid point but personally I'm hoping this was the plan to ensure keeping Aranda and bringing in a top OC.

Preeminent?

We just hired a guy that wouldn't have been on Candy or Kentucky's short list. I said nothing about preeminent.

As for your culture comment. Well. Even then, we hired people who were likely to be hired as HCs SOMEWHERE in the top 50.

He's also be 10-2 this year and we would be taking playoff. Dipshit.

Another difference is Hester could have ended up being a practice body or a blocking back and we'd have been OK.

Can't afford that with the HC.

Was this meant for me? I didn't say anything negative about a coach who went 10-2

And if Saban hadn't left for the NFL, Miles would have never been coach here.

Let's keep playing the if game!

WTF are you babbling about? The point is, they hired a guy they wouldn't even have considered just 11 months ago.

As apparently, one of their top three choices?

That's just absurd.

I hope he's successful and will back him next year. But, you can't avoid the absurdity of firing a Les Miles to replace him with someone literally no one else planned to go after.

And I hated Miles!
