Holy shite. Assuming that is North arrow pointing towards the left side of the photo (towards downtown), the prelim campus design had all athletic fields along Highland. The tennis courts and the football field were to be where union is located, baseball field where current science buildings are and parade ground in current quad location. Looks like current Greek theatre is in prelim location noted as Open Air Theatre. The current parade ground looks to be an open undesignated area. The Quad would have been rotated 90 deg and anchored on one end by the bell tower and the other by Hill Memorial Library (note location of Indian mounds)

I was at that USC game, a freshman sitting in the student section. I don't remember anything I learned in Accounting, but I still have one of those "snapshots" in my mind of the winning USC touchdown.
