that is the beauty of the sec. we are gonna find out how good lsu is, and bama and everybody else for that matter. right now bama has more style points than we do, but they are young and who knows if they are going to be able to close the season out. we are the defending national champs and we have proven we can play from behind. no way mizzou, texas or penn state are better than us. no way.

I'll take the ranking for now. If it is wrong it will work itself out. If we don't solve the pass defense, it will work itself really fast.

Why isnt UCONN in the top ten. The logic behind this thread says they should.

He had LSU ranked #5...that sounds like he thinks LSU is one of the top teams in the country to me.

For not being a blind homer, you're coming off like one. Nobody is saying LSU sucks, we're just being objective. Calling people idiots because they don't agree with you is a pretty shaky arguement to support points of view...

Objective about what? You have no objective points of comparison at this time. To say Bama is playing better now than LSU is completely a subjective statement.

the anti-homers always miss the point that they're just as unobjective as the homers they despise

They have...they didn't start at number two this year. Once the season's started, what does "last year" have to do with anything?

If LSU was in the same position as Bama this year, your arguement would be very different. IMO.

Please explain this logic. IF you can.

Sure. Taking my love for the Tigers out of the equation:

Alabama has shown a very potent offense and solid defense against better competition than LSU.

Oklahoma has a proven QB, better offense overall and better defense at this point.

Missouri has the best QB in the country, the best offense in the country, and a questionable defense.

Penn State has a better offense and a questionable defense

Texas has a good offense and a proven QB, and a solid defense.

LSU has a good offense without a proven QB and a questionable defense.

Right now our D looks second rate. Auburn held Miss ST to 02 pts and we gave up 24. NOT GOOD AT ALL.

We gave up 3 points on big kickoff return. We gave up 7 on back to back turnovers. We gave up 7 on a garbage TD after we scored to put the game out of reach. MSU had one good drive and even that was aided by a BS late hit personal foul.

We gave up fewer yards by more than 100 than Ga. Tech allowed MSU the week before. The QB for MSU that played against us didn't play against AU.

IT AIN'T THAT BAD!

Agreed. If you look hard enough, you can find fault with every team. The good thing is, if we, and that is a big if, run the table by beating bama, Ga and florida, as well as ole piss, arky and sc, I think we will be fine. My concerns are the passing game and our pass defense. Of course, coming into the season, that was the concerns, so nothing new there. Don't mean to be captain obvious, but I think if we go into the swamp and play good pass defense and can pass the ball on the gaytors, than I will feel better.

^^^^Might be a tad over-dramatic. If one of the best defenses in the country looks second-rate, I'm curious as to what a first-rate defense looks like? Have you ONLY watched LSU's games this year?

USC's Defense, are they first rate?? ... How about Florida's?? ... or what about Missouri's??

BYU's?? ... Georgia's?? ... Wisconsin's??

Ohio State's?? ... Auburn's??

Get my drift?

I am speaking from this point.. RIGHT NOW can you justify ranking Bama higher than LSU?
Don't cherry-pick the time-frame. If we can jump UGA without playing them and/or without losing to them...

They appear to be the real deal but do you realize last year they were horrible and they have to work their way to the top. LSU is a proven program. South Florida was ranked #2 at one point last year. What is your logic for ranking Bama higher than LSU?LSU started the season ranked MUCH higher than Bama. So give me your logic.
Bama has consistenly dominated the teams they've faced and anyone who's watched them play would see they're playing very very well...as a unit. We, on the other hand, although we've won, have struggled in doing so.

Uh, our defense has had questions since pre-season. Our secondary has been under scrutiny since way before the MSU game.
