So anytime people talk about shaq we have to use an * and say oh shite our fanbase said fig?

did i say that? the point is that people are like "why are you embarrassed it was twenty years ago?"

well, by that coin, "why are you proud that Shaq played at LSU? It was 20 years ago."

both reflect on our school and town.

Why doesnt america bring up salvery when talking about todays freedoms? Because it was wrong and everyone knows it ad its just overkill to bring it up everytime something positive happens

other countries totally do bring this up. those with glasshouses shouldn't throw stones.

I gotta get to bed buts its realy amazing you are embarrassed over things that have changed

have you not seen how many people have implied that i would only speak about this "if I were gay" in this thread? as if that me being gay "would be a bad thing?"

clearly, it hasn't changed.

if this thread was, "yeah different time. little embrassing but shite would not fly today" it'd be over by now.

it's embarrassing that gays still can't marry in Louisiana.

No, it's not. Take that shite to the poliboard.

It's embarrassing that we were amongst the last to allow blacks to vote.

No, it's not. Given that I was born well after the 14th amendment as well as the dissolution of any barriers toward the black vote, I have nothing to do with that.

it's embarrassing that Louisiana is near dead last in education.

Maybe, but it's for reasons that you probably don't realize or aren't willing to admit.

i can assure you that most have no idea of what the rest of the world thinks about this state.

While this is incorrect in that most realize the view toward LA is negative, why should anyone give a shite? I spent a little time in Europe and now reside in another state. I've come to realize that people have their caricatured perceptions of Louisiana, and they are usually quite ignorant. But I don't really care what they think about my homestate. Some clips from a documentary two decades ago aren't going to change that.

Here's my Laetner story....I was at LSU when he came to town. One of the most anticipated games I remember. We camped out on the upper deck of the pmac. Tons of tents...lots of alcohol. Dale Brown bought pizza for all the campers...so there was pizza EVERYWHERE. The next morning, the Duke bus pulls up. People leaning over the balcony cussing Duke. I remember vividly....it looked like it was raining pizza....people throwing pizza at the Duke players. Off the bus steps Laetner..with sunglasses. He looks at the pizza hurling student body, and raises his hands, extending BOTH middle fingers. He kept both these hands up all the way into the stadium. It was awesome...like a movie....pizza raining down and Laetner unflapped.....flipping off about 1000 students. From that moment, I became a fan of Laetner. Absolutely NO fricks given by that guy.....and then his team, led by Grant Hill, proceeded to kick the shite out of us. Best team I've ever seen live. Hill was unstoppable....I hated Laetner, but that shite was ballsy and funny....

awesome story. really

Serious question. Laettner isn't gay is he? I mean it wasn't aimed at him because he was actually gay, right? I haven't seen it (weirdly I did record it though)so I don't know. It was aimed at him because 20 year old LSU fans wanted to insult him, and couldn't think of anything that was actually creative or funny. For the record, as someone who was there, it was cringe-inducing then to the majority of people. Not a crime, not a window into the soul, but just idiotic boorish behavior of a bunch of creatively-challenged college students. And not limited to Laettner by any means. Schintzuis had it far worse.

apparently, people really did wonder if he was gay. thought he had an affair with his best friend on the team. plus he was model'ish, so it made him a target.

this is good to know. so why are people defending the behavior now?
bunch of bad apples ruining the bunch.

ETA: and at doc's end they reveal CL's hot wife and son and daughter.

but are they? seem to be dead on balls accurate. seems to me we have a loud minority running around still being assholes, and a silent majority content to condone their behavior.

we'll be the last to be progressive on all these things. and yes, all the above things are embarrassing.

get with the times, or become a laughable old relic like someone's racist grandpa.

Exactly how I remember it minus the pizza being thrown. The bird in the air made him a GIGANTIC target. I camped out as well, like we did for all the big games.

This is probably a poliboard discussion...but back then, it wasn't "taboo" like it is now. People spoke their mind without the fear of the PC police or somebody getting their feelings hurt. Different world now...everybody is sensitive, and hurt feelings equal crimes. Not saying good or bad...but that's what it is.

Not my fault you can't take a quote from a famous comedy as a joke. And I can assure you, they were not enjoyed by you. Since for the last 8 pages you have spent yime trying to tear down people and spew your agenda as a result.

which famous comedy is this? i bet it something legendary. like a rogen-franco bro comedy.

tickled pink by the fact that i get to escape the likes of you, while still enjoying LSU as an idea. the fact that i don't have to rub shoulders with you greasy, mouthbreathing, backwoods bigots (those of you who are) makes LSU so much more enjoyable. also, killed time before going to bed on a slow sunday night.

spew your agenda

yeah. that "represent your school, don't be a homophobe/racist" agenda.
