This is very unusual for lsu, only one underclassman has declared, and the only likely draft worthy players that are seniors are Deion jones, and vadal Alexander. 2017 draft looks like it will be absolutely loaded with tigers

I really wouldn't put it past him although I hope for his best interest he goes pro. He deserves it, is a great ambassador, and will do wonders for his community as soon as he get's those checks.

fournette as a person and athlete is a godsend to LSU so i'll back his decision either way as should all on this board!!

Next year could be most loaded draft class from one team since 01 Miami.

I saw a mock draft w/ 6 picks in the first round. That draft looks loaded.

WTF? The dude is fast, but c'mon man. His best hope is to catch on as a KOR guy like Trindon.

IMO the will def be drafted list barring major injury/return for senior year:

Trey White
Kendall Beckwith
Dural
Pocic
Lewis Neal
Christian Lac
Rickey Jefferson
Colin Jeter
Tashawn Bower
Dillon Gordon
LF7
Malachi
Jamal Adams
Godchaux

14 players on the conservative side with at least 3 first rounders

quote:

Since 1994 when the 7 round draft was adopted.
Ohio State has had the most with 14 players drafted (2004)

Miami (2001) and USC (2006,2009) had 11 players drafted.
Colorado (1994), Washington (1997), Penn State (1995) and Florida State (1995) had 10 players drafted.

Sorry, just don't see either of these guys getting drafted. I could see them catching on as an UDFA, but not drafted.

This will go a long way i believe. Been a while since we've had the luxury of many returning seniors.

Neither will have the tape and won't blow anyone away at the Combine (if invited).

For Jeter, unless a team thinks he can be a Special Teams demon who also plays some as a third TE near the goal line, I just don't see a draft pick being used on him.

For Gordon, he's simply a pass-eligible tackle. Not too many teams will use a draft pick for a player like that. They would rather have a good DE/LB that can serve as an extra TE on goal line situations (ala Urlacher, Bruschi, Watt).

Look, I'm no NFL executive and could be wrong; but I'm just not seeing it. We've had many other TEs who were better go undrafted. I'll be glad to eat crow on this if I'm wrong, but just not seeing it.

Jeter has looked really good when he's touched the ball.

Gordon could be moved to tackle. I think both will be drafted

When was the last lsu tight end to get drafted? I don't think Richard Dickson even got drafted

They don't have the production, or stand out measurables in regards to what the NFL looks for in a TE.

Guys like Michael ford, Terrance Magee, Anthony Johnson, rasco, and so on have gone undrafted recently. There are more RBs and Dlineman on NFL rosters than TEs.

Could they get drafted? Sure, I honestly hope they do. But if we are giving a "conservative" guess for next season I think the chances one gets drafted is pretty low, and both is just being a homer. Just my opinion.

that doesnt really matter, does it?

Richard Dickson was small and slow by NFL standards and was a terrible athlete.

you dont even know their measureables. I know Gordon has excelled as a blocker, to the point of when he got hurt, LF's production too a huge hit. He's a tackle at the next level anyway, not a TE.

Jeter has shown he is a really good athlete when he has been thrown too. Soft hands, fluid runner. He's 6'6" 250, red zone night mare if developed by the right team.

It kind of does matter. You are saying two players at a position that lsu rarely sends to the league will both be drafted? Not make a team, get drafted... They don't even stand out among our recent tight ends

If lsu had TEs getting drafted left and right and these guys had similar careers I'd say yeah I could see it. The fact is they have not stood out, and non of our prior TEs I'm comparing them to got drafted either, leads me to say probably not.

Edit: while I believe Gordon was a great asset in run blocking, explain this "huge hit" Leonard's production took..

Gordon was injured early against auburn, the second game of the season.
You know what fournette had against MSU? <160.
You know what he averaged on the season? >160
And his 200 yd games were without Gordon (I know he played some against auburn)

I hope you are right, I'm glad to have them. I just strongly disagree that it is remotely close to being a conservative guess having them both being drafted next season
