LSU316, you hit the nail on the head. Get over it people, hockey sucks. And yes, I have been to hockey games before. You go once or twice and thats good. Like they say the fights are the most exciting thing about it. Once you have seen a couple, it gets old. On ESPN, when Barry Melrose comes on and tries to make it sound like the best thing since sliced bread, it is ridiculous. Majority of people didn't give a damn when they went on strike a couple of years ago.

The FACE WASH alone, makes it my second favorite sport. if you have to ask, forget it...
There is no preening in hockey, no pointing at one's jersey and talking about how great you are. You pull that crap in hockey and somebody will kick your arse. In real time.
Hockey combines speed,incredible skill, grace, toughness and GRIT. And there is no rap music involved. Whats not to like?

C'mon rednecks hockey is way freakin awesome! It's great to watch in person and if you can catch a game in HD it's easy to follow the puck and a super time!
Has anyone ever made it to the SEC tourney in Pelham, AL? I would love to go, not sure how much tickets are though.

This redneck loves a live hockey game! Get a seat behind the goal!! I loved going to Kingfish games. Hockey on radio and TV blows chunks. The kingfish use to have some damn good fights! Blood and teeth all over the ice.

OMG. I know that 5 minutes max a day on SportsCenter they talk about hockey can be unbearable, but I think you'll be OK.

People who trash hockey are douchebags. I think LSU having a hockey team is the shite. I heard they had a game coming up but I don't know how to find out when and where it is.

MStreeTiger - Are you talking to LSUtigerfreak1, me or someone else? I never stated that I could care less. I said I don't like hockey and that is it. It's like a balerina dancer. You respect what they do even though you don't like to watch it. Don't twist the words around and don't say that I'm not an LSU fan.

When I lived in Denver hockey was fun to watch because the whole city gets into it. Baton Rouge, not so much. But since the hockey team is wearing purple and gold and represent LSU, it might make it a little fun.
Same thing happened to me with the NBA. I hated the NBA until New Orleans got a team. Now, not only do I like it, but can watch two teams other than the Hornets play an entire game and not get bored with it.
If there is some sort of vested interest, the sport can be fun. I will forever be an Avalanche fan - with or without Roy.

Rap...how do you feel when people go on and on about how LSU Athletics, especially football diminishes LSU as an academic institution? Do you get pissed at them for that shite?

I care what EVERY score is for any LSU sport and whether or not our players win or lose. Although I may not personally enjoy the particular sport being played, these athletes are putting everything they've got into it and are representing LSU. Hockey is a tough, tough sport in itself. These young men deserve everyone's support.

I think the majority of "anti-hockey" people down here are self appointed sports experts who find it easier to trash the sport than admit "newbie" status and think of it like this:

To this poster and those of you who don't like hockey, then you don't like physical athletes, speed, agression, and exciting play. SEC hockey is going to take off becasue it is the closest game to football that there is.
