This is a team that used to be a March Madness fixture, with three Final Fours on its record.
THAT is the bar, gentlemen. The bar isn't making the NIT. The bar is NCAA tourament success. If you can't get LSU to the tournament, you don't deserve to be the coach at LSU. Period.
It is NOT too much to ask for LSU to be among the top 64 teams in the country. I'm not asking for top 10, top 5 or Final Four every year. I'm asking for top 64.
I'm tired of watching teams I've never even heard of have more fun in March and April than LSU.
Making the tournament should not be a once-every-four-years goal for LSU. If tiny arse colleges with a fraction of LSU's budget and prestige can do it, then we should be able to do it, too.
Bring in someone who can get the job done, because I'm tired of this bullshite. The rest of the SEC West aren't exactly basketball powerhouses, either right now. The environment is not terribly competitive. We should be mopping the floor with them.

This. To me, college basketball is about 80% recruiting.
Switching to baseball... I'll never forget some news channel interviewed Skip Bertman after like his 4th Championship. They asked him how he does it year in and year out. Skip replied, "I get better players than the other team"....

We need a coach that can bring in talent number one. People bitch about les, but he has talent. Same for maneri. Same for lsu basketball. Granted they need to coach, but talent makes up for a lot of shortcomings.

I love how baseball fans get upset about a small school putting together talent for a good year in basketball(Murray fricking state), but have no problem with a cal state fullerton being good in baseball...that's beauty of baseball tho right?
