We should do a daily LSU football Trivia. Something new you can learn everyday.

David Woodley was the MVP of that Super Bowl. He passed away several years back. He had a very up and down life.

LSU Football Trivia

Here's a couple of fairly obscure ones:

A former LSU running back started at tailback and led LSU in rushing in one game, the only game he ever played (had an undiagnosed neck abnormality and never played again.)
This was against Rice in 1971. Who was he?

An LSU wide receiver was wide open in the back of the end zone in the '1978 LSU- Florida game in Gainesville and was overthrown for the winning touchdown near the end of the game. Can you name the wide receiver, and the score of the game?

Name the last TWO times LSU threw a TD pass on the last play of the game, the teams involved?

Everyone is going to want to say D Byrd against Auburn and the Bluegrass Miracle, but neither of those were the last play of the game. This is a good one.

Uh oh 86, I had the Bluegrass Miracle as one of them. There was another play afterward?

I'm pretty sure this is false, as he had a very poor day as I recall.

I KNOW this is false.

and as for the other question, Hodson to Fuller against Auburn and Bert Jones to Brad Davis against OM.

I'll admit don't remember much from this game even though was in school! Of course the Bear was always in the way and OM and MS gave us fits, but fun times regardless!
Was there. It was cold. Not much fun.

BTW, anybody remember John Bond of MSU? Talk about a thorn in our side. He was kind of like an old school Manziel.

No, was not last play; still had about 30 tics left and AU came very close to connecting on a pass to get within FG range on last play!

I dont know, maybe I'm wrong. I thought there was a kickoff. Maybe that was actually the last play.

John Bond could run and always beat LSU and made us look silly, Woodley was a better runner than Ensminger. and I watched the game and was in Grad School at LSU at that time

It's definitely false. He's generally regarded as the worst NFL QB to ever start a Superbowl.

He was sort of a sad story of what he became later and life, but a good Tiger QB who, along with Ensminger, was sort of saddled by Mac's offensive ineptness, which makes Les look like Sean Payton.

Charlie Mac loved the two QB system. Stokley, Screen and even Bert Jones shared time with other QB's during Mac's tenure.

Woodley was a bit of surprise during his time with Miami but he never won a Superbowl MVP.

The RB against Rice in '71 was Mike Shoemaker and the WR who was overthrown for the winning TD in the '78 Florida gmae was Bruce Hemphill.

Another last play TD pass - Bert Jones to Andy Hamilton - Notre Dame 1971.
