Look at Texas. They are on the downhill slide right now

It's all about the coaches. People haven't figured it out that it's not really cyclical persay, it's more of the fact of picking the wrong head coach, assistant coach, coaches getting older and losing a step, and other schools getting better coaches that make the game harder. It's also the type of talent you stock up.

Texas' slide coincides with losing Muschamp + the rise of other schools in Texas like Baylor, TAMU, TCU etc. Florida had a 2 year skid after Meyer and still isn't back to form.

Keep good coaches coming in, keep the right players coming in and hope that your scheduled opponents aren't getting better too. The myth of it being cyclical is about as concrete as some people with the transitive property in sports. It requires strategy, money, timing, and a bit of luck to keep the wins coming. You have to keep up.

Um...Ole Miss, believe it or not, was once a national power. Look at them now. (Also, see Notre Same). In sum...yes...you can and probably will backslide at some point. Enjoy it while we are here.

When was this? Ole Miss claims three national titles but actual has zero. They also have no SEC championships or divisional titles.

And do you think we could ever slide back to decades of average football and celebrating a 9-3 season?

Thing is, with LSU's schedule they could lose three games and still be one of the better teams in the nation. It wouldn't necessarily make them a second tier program.

LSU > Louisville and Louisville will likely go unbeaten this year.

It is. They have never even been to Atlanta except on vacation. Nothing before the modern SECCG counts nor matters.

For those of you in your 40's and older, you are well aware of the decades of 2nd tier football. From the 60's to the 90's

to say that LSU was second tier for this entire period of time is ignorance of LSU football. we fielded some first year teams in that time span. there was no BCS and little tv coverage but we had some great teams, most definately top tier teams. some of you young people continue to think the world stared when you were born.

The SECCG is relatively new to the conference. Ole Miss has a number of conference championships to their credit.

100% correct. the right people make the difference in any team, company or organization.

How old are you? Ole Miss won 6 SEC titles, the last a long time ago in '63. They were an SEC powerhouse built by Johnny Vaught. LSU's program peaked at the same time and made the yearly game bigger than today's LSU-Alabama series. What killed Ole Miss's program was the acceptance of black athletes in the SEC in the early '70's. They couldn't get their share.

As another reminder to younger posters, LSU played only 10 games a season until about 1970. There weren't any 9-3 so-so records during that era.

Ok. Name it.
Show us the SEC championship game trophy in the Ole Mrs trophy case.

Like I said, prior to the modern championship game there was no way to determine a true champ and multiple teams claimed it annually.

Tard.

You made an erroneous comment when you said OM had never won an SEC championship and now you're attempting to walk it back. Man up, you made a mistake.

Ah, so now you're a revisionist. You said Ole Miss had never won an SEC title not a championship game. You are wrong. Own it.
