it's not going to help them any when they break out the metal detectors either.

"LSU will also implement the use of metal detectors for Gates 23-28 as part of a pilot program this year that will help LSU prepare for the Southeastern Conference mandate of full stadium coverage by the year 2020."

It's the biggest problem LSU has right now.

LSU is having a problem getting people to attend games. That's not an LSU problem exclusively. It's a trend overall. If the powers that be understand, they recognize that it's only going to continue in that direction.

It's a big problem because in the last 5 years (apparently they were totally caught off guard by this), they've invested tons of money adding the south endzone expansion.

And, yet, they have simultaneously (via the parking money grab) made it very, very hard and frustrating for people to come to campus. I have tickets. We tailgate. It's an absolute hassle to get the family on campus after noon. It's really ridiculous.

What LSU had that was unique was a community that would come to campus even if they didn't have tickets. They've essentially thrown that away. And, it's only going to get worse.

frick anyone that goes to campus and doesn’t enter stadium. Lots are no longer free because there are too many campus selfie opportunities to be had and too many douche bags that think it’s cool to watch the game outside TS under a tent.

You got that about as wrong as you could have.

LSU should WANT more fans on campus than those that have tickets. For years, people would stay outside and give their tickets to others on gameday...or sell to someone who wanted them. The demand for tickets on gameday was very high, and the stadium was full as a result.

These assholes don’t contribute much to a previously established tailgating scene, but do add to traffic both ways.

They contribute everything. They are the demand for attendance. They create the extra atmosphere that made LSU unique.

You are clueless.

So I am driving down from Arkansas for Homecoming, not real high on paying stupid prices to park, but if so I will. Question is I see there is free parking miles away from the stadium, how early do you have to get there to get a spot in one of those lots? Generally speaking that is?

90% of campus is reserved/pay parking. I knew it was a lot but seeing it all in one spot kind of shocked me I guess. Sheesh.

One very worthy post. Thank you. Trying to get to LSU football games and baseball games is a major pain the the farce. Gone are the days of finding a great parking space, or enjoying the RV tailgating going on near the stadium. It was a real joy just chatting with like minded LSU fans. Now it's all about the $$$$. Football is the cash cow for all the other sports. We have to fund those high Asst. salaries. coaching buyouts, stadium renovations, etc. Many fans now days would rather watch the game from home on their HDTV, and fire up the grill with the family and friends. All this instead of fighting the BR traffic, seeking out parking spots on campus, walking over a mile from levee road to the stadium, dealing with the terrible concession stand vendors, etc. Damn, at an earlier LSU-Tulane baseball game I couldn't even get a cup of HOT coffee. They made great cold coffee.

I haven't been to a game in a while. Do they have any public bussing like the normal student bussing to bring people from free parking all the way to the stadium? That would be nice.

Of I were OT rich, I would demand my soot NOT be next to the stadium. You look real cool driving up, but sit in traffic jam for over an hour trying to leave.

Dude, we don’t sit in traffic. We party in our suite until the traffic dies down...or else leave at halftime.

Me too. Much better...bring back the ceiling fan on the oak tree at the corner of Nicholson & S. Stadium!

Daaamn I remember that fan. I just had to laugh every time I walked by that...granted alcohol was involved but that fan...that was a thing of legend. LOL

I too also think the RV's outside the stadium was our Golden Age.

I am curious about this too. I am buying a travel trailer and I want to make sure I understand the parking policies at LSU. Their website talks about RVs/Motorhomes only. On the LSU website for RV/Motorhome parking, it says " Personal automobile vehicles (tow vehicles), Trailers, golf carts, ATVs, scooters, mopeds, segways, go carts, hover boards and other motorized vehicles are prohibited in motor home lots for safety reasons"

I am assuming they are referring to an EXTRA vehicle that is towed BEHIND a Motor Coach. So is Lot 412 for Motor Homes AND travel trailers??
