Thanks for the history lesson that was not needed. I did not say your facts were not true, I said that your analogy was awful. Rightly or wrongly, the Democrats are now viewed as the party of civil rights, especially after the legacy of Johnson. Thus, their meaning changed, while the confederate flag's has not.
