What don't you like about them? The few I've met seem like nice people. It sucks that they had to move their happy hour location from Uncle Billy's to Zax.

You will soon get very sick of all the tea-sippers here in Austin, but will grow to love this wonderful town.

I would like to pimp ATT U-verse on you, I currenly pay about 108.00/month for both cable (including the premium channels) and internet. About a $42.00 diffenence from what I was paying Time Warner this time last year. I would also suggest getting the gameplan which has a preseason special right now. Which is $109 for the package.

There is a group of fans that meets up at Shoal Creek Saloon for both LSU and Saints games each week and an alumni Happy Hour once a month. LSU Austin Link

Welcome to Austin!

I'm not a huge advocate of Time Warner, but they get the job done. You get the local channels in HD, you get ESPN and ESPN2 in HD, and you can order ESPN gameplan... so that pretty much covers all of your LSU football needs.
Time Warner charges extra for ESPNU and does not have the NFL network, ATT U-verse offers both as a basic channel!

I moved to Austin back in January and I went with Time Warner... I have not been happy wth the service and I am paying 150 after tax for cable and internet. I hear good things about at&t but I will probably switch to direct tv.

Welcome to Austin! Avoid the hippies, enjoy the outdoors and nightlife.. its a fun town.

I just think they are very disorganized and make poor decisons about where to meet.

There's other stuff too. Regardless, I've said my peace on here many times before and I've just accepted the fact that I will probably never agree with them and just do my own thing

I think I am going to try out some of those bars yall listed...I do have another question...I will be living in the arboretum. I am a huge outdoorsman and NEED to hunt. Anyone know of good public land or a club that I should get into. I know its random but with me not knowing anyone I don't know where else to ask. Thanks again guys and I hope to see yall and enjoy some LSU games.

Im moving in the next month, thanks for the info.

On a side note, How bad is SOCO? Looking at the State House? Ive heard its really hit and miss.

Im also looking for places in enfield/tarrytown, does anyone know of any good complexes?

State House is a good location but I think the management is an issue. Maybe you won't have a problem.

Personally, I drive to Tiger Stadium 4 or 5 times a year to get my tiger fix. Most people can get the games on ESPN GamePlan or go out with others to watch the games. The biggest crowd will be at Shoal Creek with more 100 other Tigers. The Saints games are pretty fun to watch there also.

All the newcomers... welcome to Austin. Stop by one of the happy hours and join the email list. LSU Austin website

I guess I didn't realize that ESPNU costs extra. I think I pay for some sports package which gives me a few extra fox sports directional channels... maybe ESPNU is included with that.

As for the NFL stuff, Time Warner definitely sucks. You can't get the NFL network, and you can't order the Sunday ticket.

As far as LSU football goes, I think TW is as good as anything else though.

By the way, isn't there some drawback to ATT? I forget exactly how it works, but someone was telling me about it and it seems like there was something I didn't like... limited ability to watch simultaneous programs or something?

The parking situation just got nasty at Uncle Billy's. Once those condos are done, we will probably move back over to Uncle Billy's.

How old are you? If you're in your 20's then you'd probably like the State House. Ive heard several people refer to it as the "Frathouse on Congress" because of the high number of UT students living there. Anything in the SOCO area or within a stone's throw of downtown will probably be rather pricey, but it's a very cool area if you can swing it.

that's the one big thing I've learned to do without and it kills me sometimes - I've pretty much hung up my shotguns. In my experience, you have to really know someone that hunts and has land or access to land. Even then, you're driving at least an hour in any direction. Maybe you could check out McBride's, they can probably steer you in the right direction.

bad?? it's not bad at all. I love it, there is no comparison to being close to downtown

it's expensive for what you get. I dont know of anything there that was built post 1980. I'd love to live there too, but I cant justify the price.

the one big drawback is that you cant watch two different HD shows on two different tv's at the same time. And, they say they'll have that worked out with these new boxes that are due out before the end of the year. If you live alone or only have 1 TV that's capable of supporting HD, it's a non-issue

Thanks for the info. Let me know later on which bars yall want to meet up at for the LSU games and also the Saints games too.

People have been looking at me funny when I had my LSU shirt and hat on the other day at the mall. I'm still not taking my LSU sticker off my truck even though co-workers said I better.

I live in Downtown and as soon as I get a chance my LSU flag will be flying from my balcony.

Austin LSU fans,

Let's post another email like this closer to Appy State game time and get all the Austin Rantards (and other tiger fans you know in the area) together to flood an austin bar with purple and gold!

They'll love us!

I know we all have our preferences, but maybe we can try a few different places out and eventually agree on one we all like.

I do enjoy Shoal Creek, but mainly for food (even though it's a little bland for a Louisiana boy). The only game I ever watched there was UT and LSU a couple years ago in the NCAA basketball tournament. It was great watching that in Austin.

Anyway, I usually prefer watching at home, especially since moving to a Big 12 city, but if we can mobilize our efforts, this could be a lot of fun.

Sorry for the rambling here, and welcome everyone who is new to Austin.

I think you just had a random bad experience there. When I wear LSU gear in Austin I get more "Geaux Tiger"s than I can shake a stick at.

Come to the SEC Football Kickoff picnic at Zilker Park on Aug. 23 and you'll meet well over 100 of your new best friends and figure out where people are watching the games. This is the one LSU Austin Alumni event that I attend every year because it's a lot of fun the weekend before football starts and all the SEC schools are represented (except Vandy).

What's your name? I'll keep an eye out for you.

I moved to Austin last year. I have DirectV and the 'sports pack'. The only thing the sports pack is good for though is to see the smaller schools play (I got to see Tech play about 6 times last season). For the LSU games that aren't televised or that are on JP Sports, you either have to order the ESPN GAMEPLAN or just go somewhere that has it which is pretty much any sports bar in town. Shoal Creek Saloon on Lamar has a big Saints following and can be a fun place to watch a game.

I'm all for this... I'm not that big on Shoal Creek, I really enjoy the atmosphere at Little Woodrows in Houston for an LSU game, I wish we could create that type of magic at a local bar, I'm down to give it a shot!

Austin sucks. You guys should stay away. Move to Big D or Houston.
