This was pulled from the 2011 media guide.
It still has to be taken with a grain of salt. It is basically the Sports Information Department's best early Summer guess. Last year they had Edwards starting over Montgomery, Dickson and Theriot on the FB depth chart and neither of them saw a single snap even though Stampley did and he wasn't listed at all, etc.

I'm not worried about the LBs. When did Chavis ever have weak linebacking?

I hate to be completely negative, but it's usually not a good sign when coaches transition one player to another position.
Yes, I know there are hundreds of examples where this works out. Sometimes, it's just a case of getting the best athletes on the field. But this move has a negative air about it. If this is about getting the best on the field, why wan't Hatcher moved to LB last year before Francois?
Hatcher was 3rd on the 2010 team in tackles. Only Sheppard & Baker had more tackles.
Hatcher had 9 tackles, 6 solo & a Forced Fumble against "Saban's Vaunted". Made Trent Richardson his "Biatch"..

I can't see him at MLB. I thought he would play either Sam or Will.
Can't plug the middle at 212lbs. Will get blown away against upper echelon running games, especially in the S.E.C..
Fullback position worries me. Is there anybody that can learn the position and play it effectively during a game. (Learn the playbook, learn who to block and which direction to go, etc) Size doesn't matter if you can't learn what to do.
Eric Edwards should have been moved there permanently several seasons ago. We have enough TE's. Hell, Cameron Fordham aint seeing the field at 260lbs at Center. I hear he is pretty agressive and moves well. Put him at FB and see what he can do, instead of just stagnating on the bench.

We need to be ferocious on defense this year, Cock.

Doesn't weight 212 lbs & tore up Richardson last year.
Lightbulb continues to stay burned out on the Rant by mid 2011..

Yes, that means you don't bench one of your hardest hitting & best tacklers.

trade hatcher, hes not a football player. remember the ark. game he single handedly lost for LSU.

Did you nod off at Pine Grove Manor & miss the 2nd half?

Hatcher has been the worst thing for LSU's defense since Demitrius Hookfin...Bench him

There's a key word "or" in there that you are not allowing for.
Exactly. I think you'll see Minter in the 4-3, and Hatcher in the nickel and dime packages.

He just can't cover WRs, that's all. Hatcher will be a very effective college linebacker, and relatively good in coverage against RBs and TEs.

Ah the clan from Pineville, never smelled a fart they didn't love..

Completely disagree with this statement. He's a talented player, a very aggressive hitter. I just worry about him being counted on to take on fullbacks in the hole for 20-30 plays per game. That could be trouble.

I agree. I'd like us to allow the fewest points in the SEC but Bama is going to provide strong competition.

Hatcher has bad coverage skills, that doesn't meen he won't make a good linebacker

I figured Hatcher would start at Sam. They must not trust Minter at this point. If Minter is not going to start, I would have liked to have seen Barrow-W, Baker-M, Hatcher-S
+1.
I have a feeling after the first week or so of fall camp we might just see that after all.

Why do you assume Minter will not start... nobody is ahead of him right now?
Posted on 7/16/11 at 4:02 pm to MikeDTiger
Copeland is listed as the number 1 FB as a So. ahead of Stampley. I think this could be a major key to our offense this comming season that nobody is really talking about. Copeland is huge. He should be able to move people instead of just stand them up or get in their way like we have become accustomed to lately at LSU.
If we are going to run the ball a lot this year and you know we are then this could be a huge plus for the power running game when the defenses know it is coming and still fail to stop the attack.
