Todd Harris and Eric Monroe are both juniors, so one would expect their play to be better than it has been.
Haven't they both been hurt? I know Harris is out for the year, and I think Monroe was banged up earlier too.

You make some good points. I always contend that, not just that Surtain chose Bama, but the way he handled his business significantly hurt the Tigers 2018 class. But things will work out...just need some time for these younger players to develop.

Watching safeties get schooled by a running Qb, that can't throw worth a damn. Out of position, poor tackling, and not staying in their gaps. Players are taught to wrap up on tackles in Jr High, and high school. A college coach shouldn't have to teach a player to wrap up. It would be like having a QB coach teaching a QB how to hold and throw the damn ball.

He is a very strange case. I don’t understand how the #1 rated player in his position can not sniff the field in 4 years with thin depth

Safeties we have signed since 2016:
Eric Monroe - Can't seem to get on the field
Cam Lewis - Plays some
Jacoby Stevens
Grant Delpit
Todd Harris - Injured
Kelvin Joseph - Transferred
Maurice Hampton - Injured to start the year and hasn't yet seen the field
It's just been a combination of misses, injuries and transfer. Similar to Bama's front 7 issues.

We would have still gotten Stingley. Since when is there only one CB on the field?

Has to be an alter right? How do people come up with some of the takes that are posted on this website. It's truly astounding.

Your posts gives no link to Surtain’s recruitment and the DL as your subject line suggests

I think it is due to lack of discipline. Not sure the correct terminology, but I call it "gap discipline". Each player has an assignment on each play. They need to trust the system and stick to their assignment. To me, it looks like the rest of us as young boys on the playground all just trying to make a play and be the hero.
If I'm correct, it can be fixed. So hope I'm correct. :)

Surtain is horrible!! We threw all over him! Most overated ive ever seen.
He's actually awesome and we didn't throw on him much at all.
We don't have to act like children when other teams have good players.

It has to be injuries that he never returned to form from.
But in other cases it has happened, even at LSU. Chris Davenport was a 5* and #5 at his position. shite just happens sometimes.
ETA:
Monroe was #3 at his position on 247 composite FWIW. Always thought of him as a 4* guy.

Well Todd Harris has been injured since September, so his play is exactly what I'd expect.

Monroe has all the skills in the world but no instincts. Its tough to teach instincts. LSU cant risk him being lost most of the game. Hes had his chances to show up but continues to play timid in passing situations. And when he is aggressive, hes even more of a liability. Hes difficult to watch.
Todd Harris is an absolute stud. Has great instincts and just understands what LSU is doing defensively.
His play has not been matched by anyone...Yet.
He is sorely missed.
Kenan Jones left the program.
Losing Surtain opened a spot for Burrow, so good riddance.
Kelvin Joseph couldve been the guy, but hes a total screwup and with an attitude. Good riddance as well.
"you cant worry about the ones that got away " Guess who?
The Tiger D has NFL players all over it. I remain cautiously optimistic. Arky, the week after giving up 600 yards, is the right SEC opponent. This schedule has worked out unbelievably, since LSU got past Texas. And if the Tigers get The PAc12 winner in the first round........ Pinch yourselves.
I still cant believe LSu got that call with Moss on the sideline in gumpville. It seems to be a magical year, hell someone even said they have excellent QB play this year at LSU. Like the Heisman favorite. Stahp...
Wake me up on my dad's bday, January 13th. I may have to watch that one.
That may be the first game that you and I have watched this year, boudin

Kelvin Joseph transferring hurt us bad.
THIS! Imagine the PT this guy would have gotten this season as the 5th DB whether it be at CB and/or S? Next season he would be a full-time starter and big-time contributor. One of the worse 'departures' I can remember in recent years.

One player does not make that much difference. Our compliance office has more to do with the depth than one player
