Although I trust that Miles knows what he's doing, I still don't think this is a very good idea. A program the calibar of LSU, mere weeks removed from winning the school's 2nd national title in 5 years, should be able to attract a big name DC. I don't know anything about Mallory but considering that Peveto was under fire from fans for our very poor special teams play this year, I can't help but be a little concerned. We all know that Miles is loyal to a fault to his assistants (i.e. Bill Clay at OSU), so for LSU's sake I hope this turns out well.

to relieve Peveto of the workload?
What workload? BDP showed no effort in special teams in '07. Maybe the worst overall special teams we have ever had. Our filed position relative to our opponents alone in the Kentucky and Arkansas game was a deciding factor, and we were on the wrong end in almost every game

Longhorn, I tend to agree, and have said repeatedly that DC at LSU is damn near as important as HC, as all LSU glory eras were anchored by a dominant D.
Al Bundy, I also agree, and posted many threads pleading for BDP to demand of his STers please jam the Gunners on Punt Returns, as LSU's Special Teams demonstrated some of the greatest Matador feats ever seen outside of Mexico and Spain. As should their play remain the same next Fall, I do not want Jones back there with two guys waiting to blow him up..put an expendable Frosh with hands back there with that "Ole Matador!" cr@p.

Why? He would be an excellent hire.

Les has earned our trust in his decisions. Thought it would be Tenuta after the bowls, but there is no longer a reason to wait. Even a Peveto/Mallory couyld have been announced. Since Les has made no announcement, there must be someone that he is waiting to become available from the NFL.

maybe Les just doesn't really care what we think about things and is trying to do what is best for the team? which might be spending however much time it takes for him to make the best hire he deems possible?
he can take as much time as he wants. this might be the most important decision he makes the next 5 years.

You are correct. They are promoting from in. Amazing with the success that Miles has had you folks always find something to complain about. Like you have been in his position before and would know better. Ridiculous to say the least

I've been wondering the same thing. I understand the need to get the guys that hire to hire people ... but c'mon it's the only major sport LSU has that isn't trying to rebound or is just horrible; other than the Lady Tigers Basketball obviously
sigh, to me it can only help to have a d. coordinator when you are in your last rounds of recruiting ...
