this team has pieces that last year's team didn't have. players that can shoot the three, who can create on their own and take it to the basket and a big in macolm white who allows storm warren to play at the 4. ralston turner is going to be a good player. if dennis harris takes the next step and settles in at the 3 and can play decent perimeter defense that will be a big bonus. the young kids need to gel quickly and get accustomed to the college game, they have a great leader in storm warren.

Has Aaron Dotson looked any better? He really disappointed last year. Was supposed to be a shooter and well, yeah, not the case.

I agree. I hate to throw someone under the bus, but I think Spencer was more of a liability than an asset.
I hope Bass can improve his shooting this year. The loss of Ross-Miller hurt mostly because of lack of depth at the point guard position. Populist, a walk-on, is our best returning PG because he can shoot. Stringer looks good handling the ball on his highlight videos. Hopefully he can bring it to the next level. No question he can shoot!

I am not looking for a good year, Trent lost his best recruit to grades and classes taken.
Of course you are not. You have made it perfectly clear that you do not like Trent Johnson. And K.C. Ross-Miller was far from our best recruit. I'm glad he didn't make the grades, because that gives us an additional scholarship to give for this year.

What I saw of Dotson last year was a talented player to reticent to take an open shot or drive forcibly to the basket. These things show themselves in players coming off major injuries and who lack confidence. I'm not ready to relegate Dotson to an end of the bench cheerleader yet. I think he can contribute a good 10 points a game some point this season.

Dotson played hurt the whole season. I expect him to be much improved this year. We need him to live up to his potential.

he had a setback with his knee and had to have surgery in july i think. sucks. i wouldn't expect much again from him this season but the good news is we have more players this season. in spite of his knee he was still probably our best perimeter defender last season as a true freshman playing on a gimpy knee. turner and matt D can give us some offensive help at that position so that is good news. i still think he is go ing to be a good player, just think like chancey aghayere in football after his knee injury, he's lost some of the explosion that supplemented his game, his best move in hs was a runner from about 10 ft. hope he eventually gets th at bounce back but he's still an asset on defense.

I think the team's strength will be in the frontcourt with solid defense and rebounding, however I'm worried about where the scoring will come from. I'm optimistic about White, but I think others are over-hyping him a little too much. It's not like he was all-world at Ole Miss (outside of the 2 games against LSU). That said, I think he should be solid and hopefully the fans don't have too high of expectations for him and hammer him if he doesn't reach them.
Warren and Harris improved greatly last year and I hope the trend continues. Warren reminds me of Tyrus Thomas with his hustle and aggressivness (although sometimes too aggressive, i.e. foul trouble). Harris looks like a Kevin Durant type player (though admittedly not in the same zip code as Durant). He is long and lean and really more of an outside threat than inside. He could be a really difficult matchup problem for teams.
The freshmen are the wildcards. If they live up to their "ranking" then this team could contend for the West Division. Realistically though, I think we finish in the middle of the SEC pack, with next year bringing a return to March.

First of all dotson was not suppose to be a shooter. Idk where the hell you got that from. And second of all don't expect anything sec caliber out of derenbecker. He is a 4 year player that will be ok his senior year and that's about it. He showed nothing other than being smart in high school for me to think he is sec caliber.

the biggest thing with white is that it means storm doesn't have to play at the 5 anymore unless absolutely necessary. i don't expext him to be a 18/10 a game guy but he's pretty good upgrade over GG at the 5.
the west is still pretty bad but in a competitive way. ole miss and miss. state are probably the favorites on paper but LSU and alabama should win a few games. even auburn will be competitive. im predeicting a near .500 record with a 6-10 conference record. this is a young team so let's give them time. i think next season will be their year.

i never said dotson was a shooter. i said his best move in high school was a 10 foot runner which is far from a 3 point shot or a baseline fadeaway with a hand in his face.
if you don't rate derenbecker, that's fine. but i see a good all around game from him. even ludwig started to come on at the end of last season, he's a good player

I'm going to go ahead and say that Ralston Turner will be our breakout player based on this one epic looking dodgeball photo.

Do you think he redshirts this year? Didn't everyone think he should have been redshirted last year, but was pressed into action?

trent wanted to redshirt him last season but we just didn't have enough players and farrer ended up missing the year. i guess it's a possibility, if they decide to go that way i guess they'll see how his knee holds up the first few days of practice and make a decision and go from there but as of now i would expect him to be starting at the 2.

just be/c Ross-Miller went to God's Academy does not mean he was going to be the Savior of LSU basketball

Still no LSUBeatles sighting on a basketball thread as well as no hilarious "LSU Basketball :snooze:" posts either.

people think he's overrated or not good enough or whatever because he played at country day.
whenever he was on circuit or playing against better competition his game was just as good if not better.
