Wow, c'mon people.
Bo is clearly hobbling out there on an injured ankle. Don't you think that effects how he's playing right now?

For this team to do anything in the SEC, some of the young guys will have to step up.
I like what I see from Dotson, he's just not hitting his shot. I think that will come. Let's not forget he missed most of his Sr. season with an injured knee. So he has to get confidence in both his knee and his game all while being a Freshman in college, 100's of miles from home.

Then look at G.Green. The kid hasn't played BBall in almost 2 years with a bad back. Anyone who's had a back injury can feel compassion for Green, it's excruciating. It's going to take him some time.

Heck, I see some good out of Ludwig. He gets in there and mixes it up. All while being a guy who should be getting a red-shirt year.

The biggest concern I see from this team is they simply don't shoot the ball well from the perimeter. They must do that to play with good teams. Also, we have very little presence down low against bigs. Storm is scrappy, but undersized down there. A 6'9" or better Big is going to get good looks at the basket all game long.

In D1 basketball? Is that sarcasm?

I am a bit suprised at all the people who think we are so bad. It is so early I can't believe how some of you are acting...

Look around the SEC and there are at least 5 teams that have lost to inferior opponents, including everyone in the West. At least we haven't lost to teams like UL-L, we just played them close.

Basketball isn't like football where a big time program beats the little guys by 40. Smaller schools can play competitive games cause 1 person can make an impact so great. The main point is to win, compete and get better.

For all the people coming out of the woodworks to say how bad this team is, just stay to the side. This team may not be a top team, but to say something like 4-12 SEC is humerous. This team still has a good shot at the West. Just a few more pieces need to be molded to fit our gameplan.

I honestly think we can compete with anyone down low with Storm, Harris and Taz while we can hang around with CBass, Spencer and Dotson. Shoot, even Kinsley is looking pretty decent.

I always leave a early season game with more than just a score. We did a lot of things very well last night. For the first time this year we shot over 40% from three point land. We need to produce from outside if we are going to be successful so this is a big step. Also, I really think CBass gained lots of confidence down the stretch of that game. You could see the way he reacted to pressure change throughout the game in a positive manner. It was also nice to see the rebounding come back. You could tell Storm got backside shot block happy last week and he settled down and just got his rebounds this game. Very positive.

If you look for a good final score in every game, you will be unsatisfied. We got the win and improved on some very key things. This season still shows promise and if people give up on them because an 8 point win over UL-L, I will really lose respect for this already poor fanbase.

I read the thread back again and think I took it wrong, I think that was a sarcastic jab that went over my head. A little early in the morning for me to be replying I guess.

I liked Johnson's post game comments, especially about having players who are not out there playing aggressively. This could apply to a number of guys, but I will pick Ludwig as an example. I think he has shown some hustle and even a little skill, but the kid does not even look at the basket. He and others like him must play with more confidence on offense and take the open shot. Otherwise, the offense stagnates. Fortunately, I think we have a coach who will not only allow younger players to be more aggressive, he seemingly will demand it. The SEC is nothing special, we have some legit players, and I really think we have a coach who will squeeze some performance (and yes, even some points) out of the less experienced players. Sure, this could be a tough year but I also think we have the coach who, with a little luck, could surprise some people with this team.
