with that said do u see stringer being a all freshman team performer for the SEC? KC Ross is a better player than we are giving him credit for, and if d-becker and turner can give us 7 a piece along with our experienced players we should be doing pretty good

Dotson has a long way to go to be SEC caliber

Possible, but the SEC has some pretty good Freshman coming in, including Brandon Knight (top 5 player nationally) at PG at Kentucky.
Stringer is walking into a great situation, and has a great chance to rack up a ton of minutes so that will help his stats. Hopefully he can catch on fast.

Do y'all think that one of the freshmen will redshirt? I thought one of them would since we have 2 point guards, but then Spencer got suspended, so I'm kinda leaning towards no

I never considered reshirting for neither one of the guards, why would one of them reshirt when there better than the point that was already here
Posted on 6/16/10 at 4:40 pm to DAJACK
It was a thought, we already had two point guards on the roster, and I had no clue what they would have done with four. Spencer would be a senior this year, so in 2011-12, the one that redshirted would be able to get some time instead of being fourth on the depth chart.
I never said this was well thought out

Stringer could play the 2, and be a Devin Downey type. The Ross-Miller would run the point. With Dotson/Derenbecker/Harris rotating on the wings.

now that you put it that way i see what you are saying somebody would definitely get the short end of that stick if it was 4 guards. it would make some competitive practices though given that they would all be fighting for time. but if it was four i would try to reshirt one, but which one?

I doubt Stringer or Ross-Miller will, possibly Jalen Courtney.
PG - Stringer / Bass / Ross-Miller
SG - Dotson / R Turner
SF - Harris / Derenbecker
PF - Warren / Ludwig
C - White / Green
Jalen Courtney - Redshirt (assuming none of our bigs get injured)
The best thing about this roster will be that our players can play several positions. Stringer can play the 1 or 2, although he is greatly undersized for the 2; Dotson and Turner can play 2 or 3; Harris can play 3-5; Derenbecker can possibly slide into the 2 spot for certain situations.

I don't know a damn thing about our recruits other than a video I saw of Stringer going bananas from 3. But I do know this in regards to undersized 2's. We had Darrel Mitchell who was all of 5-10 and was money for 4 years and might have led the league in scoring our Final 4 year.
Height is always desirable, but I've seen little guys fill it up. We miss you D-Mitch

Baby led the league in scoring that year, DMitch was up there though.

We all would like for everyone to be tall but the bottom line for me is does the kid get it done. I hate when ppl say well he's only 5'8 as if he's only been playing against other 5'8 players and thats why he was successful, they play against the same 6'6's and 6'8's that everyone else does, Ive only seen stringer play maybe twice and he's probably not even 5'10 but he got it done in high school and ive also saw some stats where he averaged over 20 in the peach jam and AAU Nationals and to me thats no fluke, D-MITCH got it done at that height so im not that worried
