re: LSU basketball fans what are your thoughts about your program?

Aleva believes in TJ- he is willing to roll the dice to stabilize the program- IF he is right he looks like the brilliant AD hire from Duke- If he is wrong he alienates more Tiger fans and tarnishes his own resume.
I do not think Aleva cares one iota about the fan base. just my 2 cents which may be worth less than that

I think he does. I used to as well.
I still like alot of what Trent brings in terms of leadership, integrity, character in discipline.
But then I watch our inbound sets, that pitiful high post screen weave offense that gives our team no chance at least with the talent on hand.. watch him contantly feed White in the post down the stretch at Ole Miss to the tune of 3 straight turnovers, etc., etc., etc. and I'm just thinking even if we get a significant upgrade in talent and player development from this year to next....dude looks at best to be an average bench coach. And I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt to say that much from what I'm seeing from him in that regard right now.
So his other intagibles better kick in big time.

this season is neither lost nor over. that's the beauty of college basketball and playoffs in general. a bad/terrible season can be eliminated in the matter of a few hot games. win the SEC tourney and guess what you go dancing. i know it seems a bit of a stretch, but UGA did it what just 2 years ago? in the same breath, for a smaller school that dominates its conference (coastal carolina comes to mind) you can simply dominate your league for the regular season, then one bad game from you/awesome game for someone else, your season is ruined. wow, not much is more meaningless than the college basketball regular season.

Sure, I'm stupid because you are making a dumb fricking argument. Ohio State is UNDEFEATED, a far cry from LSU. Ohio State could afford to lose 3 games and still be a one seed in the NCAAs. LSU could win out and not sniff the NIT.
Again, it was based on college basketball IN GENERAL compared to college football. What is so difficult for you to understand about that?

I applaud your enthusiastic faith but then again back away from the drugs. Famous last words but i give you better odds of being struck by lightening TWICE than this team winning the Conf.Tournament.

LSU's talent isnt any better this year as compared to last year IMO.
I know you guys are putting your hopes next year on McDonald's all American Johnny O'Bryant out of Mississippi. I have seen the kid play, and dont get me wrong he is VERY talented and has a lot of potential, however I dont think he will be an impact play next year. I do think he can average 10 and 7 but dont expect him to be like Sullenger from Ohio State.

He's definitely no Sullinger but man, if he could give us 10 and 7 and intimidate some on defense man that would be so much more than what we're getting now.
I just hope he can catch and hold onto the ball in the post. White can't and when he does he's gonna try to shoot...usually a 12-foot fall-away.
I think Isaac, who is getting little notice, is just the sort of athletic and physical player we need. I think he'll be more of an impact player than O'Bryant.
But again, we'll need all three....Isaac, O'Bryant and Hamilton to have a positive and immediate impace and we'll need improvement and developement from Stringer, Derenbecker and Turner with no injuries to any of those three.
Because outside of that, with the possible exeption of some hustle play from Storm we got nothimg.
No margin for error.

Hey Bundy so you are saying that Obryant as a freshman will average basically the same type of numbers as Sindey whom everybody thought was a one and done, lol we'll take 10-7.BTW dont sleep on John Isaac either.

Well stated. We need all three to be contributors. 10 and 7 and a blocking presence down low from O'Bryant would be a great addition IMO. I don't think he will initially be the scorer that either Bass or Big Baby were, but I think he'll be a better rebounder and shot blocker than both immediately. That alone could mask many of our current problems on the defensive side of the ball, which I honestly think is the biggest problem for us right now.
And I also agree about Isaac. We lack athleticism on the perimeter and hopefully he can at least bring that because we are in dire need of a perimeter guy quick off the ball that can get to the basket, as Dotson has simply not shown any progress this year, which both surprises me and upsets me.
I think we know largely what we can expect from Hamilton we just need to temper our expectations a bit.

I've heard good things from folks who have seen him play up in classification. Size and versatility.

He is being pimped by folks like Blanton and others inside the program, but so was White. To speak to your comment I don't know what to expect from Hamilton but my expectations are definitely tempered.
The real wild card is Stringer. He has to work all summer long on honing his ball handling skills cause I've heard we're not going JUCO for a point cause we're banking on the St. Aug kid. So if we're still running that high post screen weave with a kid that can't get around a hedge (which is what we're doing with Stringer now) the guys who can help us won't be getting the ball half the time.

Yeah the high post screen results in a turnover nearly every other time down the court.

If our current players do not progress by the end of the season- next year will not be the year we hoped for- we will basically be depending on freshmen again

If not a turnover, a clusterphuck as Stringer is hedged to half-court and scrambling to get back into any semblance of a set where we can get the ball to anyone in position to score.

Amen! LSU BB talent stinks. I have not seen any decent talent since Brady had Davis, Bass, and others. Brady's teams were no world beaters either. I am a born and bred UK BB fan and I have to go back to Dale Brown' teams to find any serious enthusiasm.
The big problem at LSU is baseball... Since baseball does so well nobody cares down here what the basketball team does anymore. Football still reigns supreme though.

I'm gonna keep it simple and say that is the most unathletic, dull, dumb, and slow LSU basketball I've ever seen in all my years.
