This team still has questions but a lot of good to take away.

Pitching is deep but isn’t proven against great competition.

Hitting is great but hasn’t faced the best pitching yet.

Catching is elite.

Lots of room for improvement throughout the year in most phases.

The freshmen are going to contribute in a big way.

I’m very high on this team and I think they can repeat as NCs. There’s a long way to go to get there however

Last years team was all but set from beginning
This years team has a lot more moving parts and roles to be sorted out in lineup and on mound
Will know a lot more after the trip to Houston
I think this team can be much deeper compared to the top end star talent you had last season

Dugas and Beloso weren’t playing opening day last year.

Kling was our leadoff hitter and Neal was our starting catcher.

Riley Cooper got the second start of the season and Ty Floyd was in the bullpen.

At this point last year we were thinking Hurd was going to take the Friday night spot from Skenes.

There were plenty in the air opening day last year. You just don’t remember them.

Is Pearson odd man out?

Doubtful. He was supposed to be odd man out last year and he just kept hitting.

Yeah, the only criticism of that game probably centers around walks given up. With that big of a lead, though, JJ gave them some extra batters to try to find their release points, and that experience will hopefully pay some dividends down the road….

Pearson kinda was the odd man out until Jones stopped hitting and Morgan went back to 1B

He’ll settle into a role this year

Pearson goes to LF if Milam ends up that dude.

Bingham to RF

Brown to 1B or DH rotation.

Can Jones stick at 1B? What happens when he sees sharper offspeed? Can Milam stay consistent? He’s pretty young but seems to have a great handle on his strike zone. Does Brown lock down RF? He’s a LH bat like Pearson so do you just play the bot hand?

Brown will never DH over Neal/Travinski imho. Hes either your RF or 1B.

I don’t know which one of these doesn’t happen but I feel pretty confident that all of that happening is pretty unlikely and Pearson is there for any of those eventualities.
