the only somewhat surprising thing to me that came out of this is that he made it sound like Bouman will be starting opening Sunday rather than Poche.
Maybe he wants to throw Poche in the Southeastern game because SELA > Grambling then eventually make the switch a few weeks down the line.

I'm not that surprised. He's got 18 games to get these guys ready. Sometimes, especially early on, it's about putting these guys in successful situations then adding more pressure as you go. He'll start. Get some wins, then be put in the weekend rotation to get his schedule ready for Vandy.

Remember he did the same thing with Nola a few years ago. Made sure he pitched a midweek game at Tulane before SEC play started.

Saw him once in the fall and he did well. He's had an interesting career and his path to LSU wasn't easy.
