You raise your kids the way you want but explaining to my son not once but twice that his favorite player just fricked up again has to be a lesson for him. If not he will definitely make the same

if stuff like that worked long term, nobody would drink or do drugs. when he's in college, he's going to want to get fricked up after a long week of studying, maybe not, but most likely.

You or I smoke weed, no biggie. TM7, nah, he is a loser for what he threw away because he smoked weed. Two totally different things.

Love the way you compare a National Defensive Player of the year, All American football player who could possibly earn millions and has had his entire life under a microscope to that of a 3rd year architecture student who no one knows and will never be on ESPN regardless of his bad choices. Face it, The Honey Badger persona built up by all of us helped create a monster that thought he could get away with anything as long as he played football well. With that slipping away he could potentially become another BOZO who lives off our tax dollars through social services, unemployment, or worse jail or prison. Wait till you get out of school, work somewhere over 5 years, start a family, have some responsibility and realize not every bad decision earns you a second chance. Life is tough, no reason to make it worse through dumb decisions and compound it by making excuses for them.

Proud of your son too and excellent response from you to the people rattling on about being a quitter. Tyrann made a huge mistake and I'm glad an 8-year-old can realize that (and nervous that someone likely 18+ would call them a "quitter"). I hope Tyrann hasn't "quit" and that he can get his life together, but he won't have another chance at our school and that's a shame for how much support he had. That's why an 8-year-old's jersey is in the trash.

TexHoss thank you. It was a rough conversation trying to explain to him why this happened again. I don't sugar coat things with either of my kids. Watching him tear up made it worse. My dad was not around when I grew up but my grandpa was. Let's hope TM7 has an adult figure he can talk to so he can succeed in life either with or without football.

Son, you have no idea what life or parenting is all about. I wish you well because it's evident you don't have a clue.

Just scrolling the board while I couldnt sleep tonigt, and have to say I totally agree with you...Your son deserves a pat on the back for expressing his feelings about an idiot..He is not a looser, quitter, or anything else people might say...He is at the age where he is choosing heroes and role models to grow up to try to be...Seems to be on the right track

from the initial post not one reply praising LOLO but plenty calling my son as well as myself a loser, quitter, etc. And making excuses for TM7. I thank you for posting a positive response to my son and I thank God he still has Drew Brees.

Lolo Jones

I was rooting for her, obviously in the 08 Olympic games and was feeling so bad for her after she lost, seeing how much she wanted it.

Followed her recovery and even though I did want the 12 games, her's was the only ones that I looked for on a schedule... and again I was heartbroken for her not winning.

But all that she has shown as a good person is a reason to be a fan of her's (I actually told a Bammer this story and he said he would follow her through the games too).

I followed her b.c she went to LSU. Now I root for her success b/c of who she is. Everyone can't be that good of a person (sadly), but I am so very proud of her, no matter what she does in the future.

GEAUX TIGERS 34 Thank you Sir. I took him to his first game along with my 6 yr old daughter and my wife last year for the BCSNCG. Hope to go to Dallas next September. I try to get to one game per year. My son is 8 yrs old, 54 inches tall and about 74 lbs. I can only hope that one day he will don the purple and gold. He loves LSU because of his dad. It's a great feeling to experience watching a game with him. So sad others do not realize that our children are our legacy. Hope to meet you one day. God Bless you and yours.

2 things:

1. Throwing the jersey away was nothing more than a statement. Next year another Tiger will wear the number so it's kind of wasteful.

2. Throwing the jersey away IS a statement and I admire a pre-teen's conviction and awareness that no matter how talented an "idol" may be, he/she still has flaws and some of those flaws cancel out the talent.

That being said, I applaud you for raising a child to think for him/herself and take a stand.

It just sucks that he threw away the jersey, because there will be a legit number 7 playing for lsu next year... Fact.
