Double down. Impressive.
You're so wrapped up in looking for racists that you're accusing someone agreeing with you of being racist

Do you not share any culture with you’re countrymen of similar race?
It entirely depends on what you define as culture.
I'd wager poor white hillbillies in Appalachia have more similar outcomes to poor inner-city black kids than wealthy, culturally similar white peers in their immediate vicinity.
So, is performance related to culture or poverty mixed with some apathy towards education? Are those things synonymous?

Pretty sure that’s cultural appropriation.

The percentage of white LSU students is significantly higher than the percentage of white residents in Baron Rouge and in Louisiana generally. So what exactly is your point re: this conversation?

True, but Louisiana has a legacy of one HBCU for every major university in the same area.

So what exactly is your point re: this conversation?
That is, unless you're defining an entire culture as poverty and educational apathy. Then I would argue that that "culture" crosses racial lines and thus has nothing to do with race.

Based on some of the case studies Tate cites in his article, more financially stable black students with supportive families and good grades in other classes had issues in calculus at a higher rate too

Ah yes, a place where judging people on their own individual merits instead of the color of their skin is a conservative echo chamber. Mlk would be completely shocked.
They get upset when they get judges on the contents of their character too.

So the [his] argument is that black children lack the mental capacity to learn math in the same manner as Hispanics, Caucasians, Asians, etc? Why aren’t blacks offended by this bullshite.
If you think different means lesser than it would be insulting.

In this context of learning and academic achievement, different is lesser.
There is no polite way of saying an entire race of people is bad at math and needs super special processes to learn it.
It’s also bullshite.

I’m sure somewhere in your simple mind you think you actually made some kind of point here.

If you can get to the same results but just need a different method than they aren’t lesser.
The real question is why does this upset you?
The man has a PhD in education with a focus in math. Why are you upset that he actually thinks about how we teach math and if we can do it better?

Can anyone explain how Tate even got to be a finalist, when he wasn't on the list of candidates?

I'm all for improvements in teaching methods. But claiming that students with zero commonalities other than their race need special methods to learn math is textbook racism.
I know we've gotten numb to claims of racism, and 90 percent of the racist accusations are bullshite and just general rudeness, but this type of claim would get people fired and careers ruined if the language was mildly tweaked.
It's ridiculous what people will accept.

You're asking why I care if the newly hired president of our flagship university, where me, my wife and all my children have graduated, subscribes to and promotes a radical, racist, political and educational philosophy?

it is after all, the woke thing to do ensuring better facilities and lower overall costs for the black students.
Nothing you said here makes any sense from any political point of view. It is just dumb wankery.
