Our official university name is "The University of Louisiana at Lafayette." I'm not denying that and I'm proud of it. So this looking for an "official name change" is a myth and misunderstanding.
"The University of California at Berkeley" is called "Cal" and while it is a not a huge, "major" university, you have "Ohio," which of course is not nearly as large or does it have the high profile athletic program of Ohio State.
Yes, we are rightly pushing for a cleaner nickname. I'm tired of these dumbass ESPN announcers tripping all over "Loo-wees-eee--anna Laf-FY-yetttee" or calling us "Lafayette," which is a college in Pennsylvannia. "Louisiana" is cleaner and more efficient nickname. Schools and companies do it all the time for branding reasons.
As far as promoting the nickname, I do indeed fail to understand the LSU obsession. We're in a different system and it has nothing to do with LSU.
You have to matter for the masses to call you something other than what you are. You don't, so you will be called ULL, Louisiana at Lafayette, Lafayette, 2nd rate mid major, just one of the "Louisiana" schools LSU smacks around, little man complex, Oh yeah, we forgot they existed, etc.

UL works with an athletic budget significantly less than yours. We aren't suppose to win anything, right? We can't do shite in any sport, yet every damn day I hear more and more jealousy from lspoop fans. it's quite entertaining
Dumbass! LSU's athletic budget comes from revenue because of our athletics, plus the athletic department gives some of it's money back to academics. It's not our fault you suck at athletics, your school does not invest in it properly, and your fellow fans don't support a better athletic program.

Serious questions here. When did TAF begin and what were its first few years like? The website only goes back to 2003. During that time, did the state of Louisiana subsidize LSU athletics? If so, how much? We may be years and years behind, but I'm wondering how fast LSU athletics went from being an expense to the state to generating income for the state.

Dumbass! I wasn't debating on the flow chart of revenues to and from your athletics. What I am saying is that if you took percentages of your overall intake of cash/revenues and compared that to the winning percentage of your sports it's disproportionate. If you take the revenue stream from UL and compared it to the success we've enjoyed in our programs you will find it highly elevated.

You are truly mentally ill. You are a shitty 3rd tier college that nobody really gives a shite about. That's not a big deal deal, it just is what it is. Your Napoleon Complex and delusions are a big deal though.
