The Train ride to B R for the game was fun

The wheel Barrow ride in the Irish Channel was a party, I think at Parasols

In New Orleans it was at Norby's on Annunciation Street, there was another upriver or other's around the state I think.

That 1973 game was a sore spot for true Tigers. LSU had come off three fine performances and Tulane, even though they were 8-2 before LSU, had lost big in recent weeks to Kentucky and Maryland. LSU was 9-1 and a two touchdown favorite.

I remember being unable to get tickets for that game. Tulane fans took over the stadium and swelled the crowd to 86,000+, a record for college football in the South at that time. I listened to the game on WJBO with John Ferguson announcing. Sheer agony. Tulane up 14-0 late; they got the ball back after an LSU punt with about 4 minutes to go and made a couple first downs and ran out the clock. I have never been so sick after a game as that one.

I remember Charlie Mac complaining after the loss, "we've just been playing them on the road too much." They had played them in NO in '72, and the Tigers escaped by the skin of their teeth. The '73 Tulane game was a turning point for McClendon, and for LSU football.

The greenie athletic dept., for years, shite on LSU fans every chance it got when it came to game tickets in N.O. Then, the relationship fell apart, slowly at first, when the greenies stopped being competitive in every sport except for baseball. Then Jones used his successful baseball program to double shite on Tiger fans every chance he got & the relationship finally collapsed under sheer apathy on both sides' parts. No one cared anymore back then, no one cares any more now. You don't see greenie fans here clamoring to renew the series.
