Wasn’t a great pitch, but that’s why velocity matters so much. Even on breaking balls. It just gives you so much more room for error. If a dude is looking for a 97 mph fastball, you can hang a slider in and get away with it.
Great job getting out of that inning by Will. Hopefully he learns to trust his stuff and just let it go. He doesn’t have to be perfect. He does have to throw strikes, though.

Damn if Guidry hadn’t hung up that one pitch we could have had the series and Saturday’s blowout hurts a whole lot less

I'm not excusing his laziness, but I think it's more of that than ability. He needs to get better, there's no excuse for laziness.

To be fair, their starter hardly put it over the plate to hit but this new guy is mowing them down and keeping Vandy alive.

Schmidt has battled hard to this point. Hopefully he can settle in and cruise through the next 3 innings.
