Doughty looked comfortable at SS. He won’t get to all of the balls Thompson would, but if he can just make the routine plays it would really help.

Thompson looked good on his limited plays at 2nd today. Want to see how well he can turn 2. Doughty wasn’t very good at turning it from 2nd.

Again I’d like to give some attention to Bryce Collins gutting out the three innings on Friday to save the bullpen. He did for us what Florida’s relievers could not do today.

Doughty looks good at SS. He's not going to be that guy that makes freak Bregman plays at SS. He's good and my crazy prediction for Doughty is he works himself into a 1st round draft pick consideration. I also think Thompson builds confidence at 2nd and helps him in the long run.

CJJ better not touch this lineup.

Those things matter over a weekend.

I mean it’s Doughty’s HS position so it’s not a big stretch.

I'm sure you saw this already but Wilson that stole home for Texas Tech last night, also hit a walk off grand slam tonight.

Yeah. I imagine he’s popular in Lubbock right now and will be for some time.

Yup. Texas had 21 hits and still lost today.

Agreed. And, Hilliard pushed through tonight for extra use, too.

It was big to close the game with a big inning and without them having momentum.

I would maybe consider moving Hilliard to Friday. He doesn’t have the stuff but he’s experienced, has a calm demeanor, knows how to change speeds and shape of his pitches, just one of those funky guys that can cause problems. He has proven over time he can battle, and if he does get rocked at least you know you can throw off after him and save some arms for Saturday/Sunday.

ETA: Tennessee 8-0 over Ole Miss again lulz

I hear you. Hilliard is tricky. He’s a starter only, otherwise he should be cut. He doesn’t pitch well out of the stretch or in relief. When he pitches is pretty much a guess.

I’m thinking he gives you 5 every Friday night regardless. If he’s bad then that game is probably conceded against the other team’s ace anyway, you save some high leverage arms, then have Money starting game 2.

Or if he can mind frick them enough to get into a competitive game then you play it straight up and still have Money in game 2.

I'm not sure why CJJ would start his only lefty. He seems to like playing the matchups too much. I'm expecting Taylor to start. Reyz, Fontenot, and Dutton are all available for lots of innings and maybe see what Lansville can do in conference

Eta: I'd expect to see Vietmeir again tomorrow too

If our radio crew was correct, Taylor was up and throwing with Gervace in the pen. That would lead me to believe Jay was leaning to Dutton.

Completely forgot about Dutton in my earlier post. We’ve got 7 guys to get through 9 innings tomorrow and that doesn’t even include some fringe arms like Shaffer or Edwards.
