Realistically, Cabrera and Watson should have done something at the plate earlier. MSU fans would say similar for their team. Hilliard was awesome, this L sucks.

I’d hardly call it a routine grounder. The announcers literally said even if he fielded it cleanly Mangum probably would have been safe. Find something else to bitch about, like how many runners we left stranded on base.
I would tend to agree with you... but there's a reason the official scorer ruled that an error and not a base hit
he thought if Broussard fields it, it's out #3 and ballgame over

Look at the bright side fellas, playing auburn means no whistler

How many baserunning blunders in extras? Picked off, caught stealing, inability to get bunts down to advance runners. Just poor execution.

Feel bad for Beck, Hess and Hilliard. Pitched their asses off.

LSU had so many opportunities to win this game even before extra innings. Our bats let us down. Pitching was fantastic aside from the starting pitcher.

The winning run was a fricking out. Strike three pass ball or whatever they call it. That sucked hard.

pitching was fantastic for the last 15 innings of this game
bats were slow to get started and un-clutch with runners on
and defense was solid for most of the game... but just 3 mistakes is all it takes

it's too bad a fly out and 2 Ks wasn't enough to end the 17th inning
we just needed to give them a 4th out in the inning
ETA: and b/c it was called a wild pitch... the run became earned against Hilliard (that's tough luck)
ETA2: I was so aggravated at Mathis that I didn't even notice LSU intentionally walked a batter after the 2nd Mathis blunder and the game-winning hit

That's the part I just can't wrap my head around. If State just took advantage and got together a few hits and won then fine. But damn the winning run was strikeout that your catcher couldn't get out at first. Get that out you're still battling. Lost on a fricking error and another passed ball because your damn catcher couldn't CATCH. Try Mathis anywhere else but doesn't need to even sniff that position next year until he shows he can play it

You right. But State can say the same. If they had their way in the 2nd and 3rd innings, we wouldn't had a chance. We had opportunities with no clutch hitting. When your 2-3-4 batters go 0-12 at one point of the game, that spells trouble. That means after Smith, there was no one there to pick up his slack. Probably why he kinda did a little too much in some of his at bats.
But it did go 17 innings and the point being is that you had opportunities in extras and again nothing. Broussard' s error there hurt the most because that was ball game. Instead, you tie the game giving State all of the momentum.
