I am ordering the 70-300 lens for my Nikon D 5000. I think that extra 100 would have made a difference. $600 is a bunch, but I am sure I can take some great pics. I just had a 70-200 lens, but they came out okay. I am a very green photographer.

You're pics are great- they make mine look like I have one of those old-timey cameras I have to put my head under the curtain and then smoke comes out....
