Father Henry Vavasseur, retired Catholic priest previously at Holy Family in Port Allen passed away yesterday.

He was a season ticket holder for many many years in the south endzone. He used to set world records for quickest Mass ever on Saturday afternoons at 4 so he could get out to campus before the night games and always found a “substitute” when LSU played in the afternoon.

He wouldn’t do saturday funerals during football season. He had his priorities.

God Bless Fr. Henry and Geaux Tigers

I went to HFS from k-8, finished my 8th grade year in 2005. Father Vavasseur was fairly cold, and had little personality. Glad to know he at least had a passion for LSU.

So did I. I was an altar server so I spent a little more time around him. You’re right he was cold, but he would light up when talking about LSU football.
