Disappointing end to the year. Still proud of this team though.
Based on how the season went, the SEC Tourney championship was a pleasant surprise. Didn't really expect a run to Omaha, and the NCAA didn't do us any favors with this regional.

Easy to say what should have been done after the game is over? That's a f'in a no brainer!! If nothing else it keeps you out of the double play.

Where's the bunt??? 1st & 2nd nobody out in 8th & no bunt. Runner on 1st nobody out in 9th, should have pinch hit for Gaudet & bunted. PM choked because he was scared to make a move & not play the percentages. Look at teams like UCLA & Irvine. They make the most of every scoring opportunity while we try to rely too much on our big guys hitting the ball out of the park. Bad coaching job today no matter what anybody says.
Totally agree. This team has not been hitting home runs consistently. And against good pitching, we weren't going to single teams to death like we did in Hoover. We needed to manufacture runs to get through this regional, and CPM choked. He blew opportunities early against UCLA and late against against UCI to get runs across.
For a team that was Number 1 half way through the season, it sure sucks not to even make a regional final. From we're No. 1! to we're No. 33-48!
For those who played their last games today, thank you for the memories and good luck with your futures. Those that return, continue to work hard because you have some big shoes to fill.
It sucks that LSU won't be in Omaha to close Rosenblatt. Hopefully, we will be at our new summer home next season.

And hire a legitimate pitching coach to develop them. It's a crime not to have an experienced pitching coach at a program the level of LSU. Ya think programs like UCLA or Texas or whoever else don't have a coach on the staff that was a former pitcher themselves and knows how to coach em up. Last year, Coleman, Ott and an injury free Ranaudo didn't need that much coaching. Faced with many "Pitching" problems this season, Grewe seemed oblivious on what to do, but that makes sense because he's never had any experience with pitchers. Never handled pitchers before LSU. LSU/SEC is no place for on the job training.

Wow, UCLA bunted twice in a row with no one out...with their 3 and 4 hole hitters. Imagine that concept.

I didn't see any discussion about Dean's grounder down the first base line in the 8th. No way that ball was foul crossing the bag. It looked like it kicked up chalk (or hit very close to the line) 15 feet behind the bag. It certainly would have been more fair at the bag than 15 feet behind the bag.
It looked like the ump was not in position to make the call. It also looked like he was looking to where the ball hit to make the call. Was there ever a reply from a decent angle?
Of course it's all spilt milk now, but if that ball is called fair (which it probably was) we have runners on 2nd and 3rd and then Gibbs' fly ball becomes a sacrifice fly and ties up the game.
I was just wondering if there was any discussion about that pivotal call.

@bullethead.... I agree... that ball looked extremely fair. The ump's back was turned not even looking at the ball when he called it foul. It looked dead nuts right on the line. I was sitting 4 rows up 1st base side of home plate... I had a decent vantage on it. As you said water under the bridge.
