Men's Track only get 12.5 scholarships per year and women get 18. So unless you can get a top athlete, you don't waste a scholly on someone who likely won't score at NCAAs. Actually, very few athletes get a full ride. Most get partials so you can recruit a few more athletes. But with so few schollys, you're never going to recruit for every event. This has been the case for a long time, but the program did no suffer until recently. And, every other college with a football program has to deal with the same issue. Didn't seem to bother them in kicking out tails this year in the SEC.
