Here is my shitty take. No.5 shouldn’t be retired. Retired numbers in football should be left for player that achieved Heisman and a championship. Hang his jersey in the stadium and give him a statue.
With the double and triple numbers now, there are going to be close to 17 players wearing single digit numbers with 5,7 and 9 being off limits or given.
