Because it's not about Lee or Jefferson...it's about LSU. And Jefferson was better fit to run the next play than Lee.

I think you'll see Lee get the large majority of snaps moving forward with Jefferson playing a role like this from time to time.

Which is still a problem. Shepard should play that role. He is actually a legit running threat.

All of this discussion on this thread completely ignores the fact that neither is any good and we have done nothing to address the problem in recruiting, other than signing someone who you had to know might not ever set foot on campus.

You don't think that Lee is any good after watching the game yesterday?

I'd say he's pretty solid

He couldn't have played much better considering how rusty he is

Jefferson can be a valuable tool because of his mobility. I understand the decision to bring him in at the end of the game. But Lee moves the offense MUCH more effectively than Jefferson.
Agree totally. But it is so good to see that there may be hope on the end of each snap from here on --- if CLM keeps his word and Lee becomes our #1 QB.

jl still makes mistakes so I could see jj starting to get the run game going and not get behind early. the swamp is not a good place to give jl his first start. jj starts but jl plays 70% of the plays. that would be my formula

I actually agree with this. Keep Crowton AWAY from Lee. I like it.

I think Lee should start and JJ should see very limited time, maybe 1 series each half just to let him sit and watch.

I don't see why Lee can't run the runs JJ has been running. None of them have been particularly big gainers other than the long TD run on the 1st play from scrimmage Saturday.

Lee had a few problems but I think (hope) he's gained the maturity to work those out. He looked very impressive in his interview on t.v. after the game. I think he's come a long way since 08.

JL can at least throw the ball. JJ is still learning how to do that. JL does throw it up in the air wildly at times and for some reason i have a feeling he will do the same vs florida but its still better than having JJ in there. JJ gives us nothing

No I don't. Exactly what did he do that was so great? Remember this is a Tennessee defense that got torched by UAB. He produced only a field goal until the gift TD at the end, threw an absolutely dreadful pick in the red zone, and had numerous throws that were nowhere near his receiver. Just because he might be better than Jefferson doesn't make him good. Granted he's at the mercy of running a system that has no identity, and will put him in situations that are not a good fit for his talents (running the offense out of the spread), but you can't ignore the considerable body of work he's built up when he's been on the field.

It actually doesn't matter who starts the game. I do think JL showed he is fully capable of moving the ball and we will use both qb's, if needed, in the same series. So long as it works, so long as the line can handle the difference in the play calling and not get any more false start penalties, I'm fine.

trivia question for Larry.

2008 .....In JL's second start as a redshirt freshman away from home, what team did he play against?
