You know who the middle school bullies wind up being when they grow up? Deputy Sheriffs. They wind up fat, with failing marriages and shite pay. The only thing they have to live for is the rush and the "authority". Poetic justice.

I am sickened by the way your son was treated at school. No one should have to defend their apperance, school affliations, etc. It is reprehensiable how people will pick someone who is a little different in one way or another to bully and not be disciplined for it.
Tigerfan, I speak from experience. I am a person of small stature and was picked on all through high school (at that time I weighed about 80-90 lbs). I was called all sort of names, put into situations that were diffucult to get out of, but the thing that bothered me the most was that others would make fun of my features. I had not "grown into" my big blue eyes or full lips. I moved through school without getting into any physical altercations, but those days were not the easiest to go through. I never told my parents and would take everything on the chin and move on. I made it into adulthood with some scars, but I know that I did what I had to and I am a well adjusted person. Those years made me stronger, appreciate what was given to me, and more sensitive to what effects others. Fortunately, I have had the last laugh.... I have the blue eyes and full lips that most people are going to the cosmetic surgeon for these days.
I don't know if this will help your son's situation, but I think he has handled more than he is willing to disclose to you and this latest situation was just the one that "pushed his last button." He seems to be a strong, intelligent young man and someone I would be proud to call my friend. Let him wear his LSU clothing and other things to school. If he doesn't he will not be true to himself, which is the most important thing.

I know "kids will be kids" but I can't see any kid picking on someone in a wheel chair? Bama fan, LSU fan or any other sorry.

My son is also in middle school and he wears his LSU gear regularly; if they happen to attend the same school, tell your kid to give mine the "geaux tigers"

Sorry to hear about the school situation. ON another note, I just saw a great documentary about a black kid who has Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy. It's called Darius Goes West. Hilarious. He and his pals go to CA from ATL to get his wheelchair pimped out by MTV. Check it out. Well worth it.

I told him he should feel sorry for that kid because it's obvious that although he is not physically handicapped like you, there is something unseen that is really broken inside that kid.
Good Job, Tigerfan! You were spot on, and your son will get this. In my experience with working with adolescents and children, handicapped children often have the best social IQ. It will benefit him greatly in the immediacy and the future.

This is just awful, and i am sorry that that situation even took place. That kid should be punished severely. I hope that the situation gets better.

I say we get a picture of the assailant, hand it over to our fellow TD Farkers, and decorate your son's wheelchair with the pictures they come up with. Let's turn the tables.

I agree this behavior is un acceptable to say the least. We as parents must realize where children learn things from...us.
If the parents (and I am not saying this is your situation) are berating others beleifs or taunting others..make sure you don't teach children this. Trust me they'll learn it sooner or later anyway. Grade school kids are under peer pressure like HS.
I'm sure if the parents of the kid who is a Bama fan and was taunting yours knew about it..then they should teach their boy not to do this..then ask themselves "What have I shown by example"?
