That was horrible, I can't believe he didn't know what happened on that TD. Tell him when you have the possession of the ball and cross the goal line it is over.

Everybody always says they hate Collinsworth but I've always liked him. Seems like a nice dude.

Not if you're designated as a receiver when you cross the line, which was the whole issue. That's why the ref started off by ruling that he was a runner and therefore didn't have to maintain possession. A receiver has maintain possession after breaking the line; a runner doesn't.

Especially after taking three football steps with full possession.

How many seconds or steps do you have to have to become a runner? Has the NFL established that? Anyone know?

Collinsworth is so shitty. Al Michaels I’ve always liked but I was irked when during the Saints Katrina homecoming game against Atlanta he said the Saints might go ahead and move anyway no matter how hard the NFL “tries” to keep them in Nola. Joe Buck can eat a dick too. Ok melt over, going to bed. Geaux Tigers.

Tell that to the guy that called the Dez Bryant fumble a few years ago. Clearly had possession, clearly reached the ball across the line to score, ball hit the ground and came out of his hand.

Once the receiver caught it at the 5yd line and took three steps it seemed obvious to me he became a runner and different rules apply.

I agree. I thought it was a touchdown, too. I was responding to CalTiger.

He caught the ball, made a football move, took like 3 steps and had possession as he crossed the line. He didnt need to maintain possession after that. Collinsworth should have been able to see that.

Dude took 3 steps, made a football move, and crossed the white line. Good to know I wasn’t the only one yelling at the TV.
