No I'm totally cool with the truth.
That's my point.
What I'm not "cool with" is the Freudian psychoanalyzing and sourceless speculation.
"League sources say"....

They paint Te'o as some kind of victim and then make his story the feel-good story of the draft, and they make Mathieu seems like some sort of rapist or murderer. I rather he smoke pot than be bat-shat crazy like Te'o....

Whether it's true or not it's an odd article to write the day AFTER he got drafted. The article is saying nobody wants him and just footnoting in, except for that team that drafted him in the top 70 picks.

It's not a "hit piece." Not by any means.

Take off your LSU glasses and see the world as it really is. Mathieu has earned every "low blow" he receives. Every one.

If he didn't have some ability to play football he'd already be in jail. This is clear as day.

I hope he straightens his life out, but there are precious few FACTS to lead me to think that he'll not end up bankrupt and in serious trouble within five years.

This part is ridiculous. I'm not sure how they explored his "gambling". He gave up 2 catches and no touchdowns. Hell, LSU's D was sensational all year

The downside is that Mathieu is only slightly more disciplined on the field as he is off it.
In fact, the last time Mathieu played in an actual game, Alabama didn't try to avoid him. The Crimson Tide went after him, exploiting his gambling tendencies to create big plays.

It is the epitome of a hit piece. And it gets there when it veers off FACT and veers into UNSOURCED SPECULATION and PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION.

It's NARRATIVE FIRST, facts later.
And for that, it FULLY DESERVES our disdain.

Those two passes were also perfectly placed, and may be the best passes McCarron ever throws (and that's saying something, because I think he's a really good QB, even though he plays at AMAB.)

In the end, the draft is all about whether a team thinks there is at least one more team out there that will take a player before they get another chance at him. Arizona figured there was one, and they were willing to spend that pick on him. He'll do fine at safety--he played there in the 11 Arkansas game. Hopefully that also means he'll get his personal life on the right track.

Didn't realize you were there, thanks for clearing that up for us. Good to have someone with firsthand knowledge on the board.
