If duplantis bats anywhere but 3rd it should be lead off

I disagree. The metrics show that your 2 hole hitter is actually your most impactful hitter. Besides, I like a walker at leadoff. Duplantis doesn't walk much. Duplantis is a hitter. I want him up with somebody on base. Besides, Broussard is a quality hitter in the 9 hole so it kind of makes Duplantis a 3 hole type hitter after the first turn through. I like Garza sandwiched between Duplantis and Cabrera because we need him to see as many fast ball strikes as possible which will happen the most between our two best hitters. Cabrera can hit anywhere. I like Watson after those 4 because you kind of never know what you're going to get from him. Plus I want him running every time he gets on 1st which I don't want with the first 4 batting because I don't want the bat taken out of their hands. 6-8 are basically just ranked from best to worst. I like that second lead-off in the 9 hole.

Had an injury that he needed to recover from. He is still recovering and people who were at the scrimmages said he isn’t fully himself yet

Which is why I want josh smith there. Someone who can hit for both average and power

I want guys who can get on base and run at the leadoff spot and no one on this team can do both as well as dups.

Bat dups leadoff and he turns into a 2 hole hitter in that situation which you just called more impactful than the 3 hole.

None of us have seen Garza very much. I’m going to trust Paul on this one for now. If he says he’s not ready I’m going to trust he’s not ready for the 3 hole.

Agreed

He’s a dead red fastball hitter. He needs protection more than anyone in this lineup.

If you have a stealer you steal him when the situation calls for it. You can’t worry about taking the bat out of someone’s hand. If you think he can make it you send him.

We haven't even played a game yet. It's a long season...maybe you need to be on meds.

If I remember correctly, I think Broussard led the team at Delgado in Slugging % from the lead off spot. I’d say that maybe don’t qualify him as a singles hitter necessarily.

My argument is that they do know more and simply aren't sharing that knowledge directly.

Bra are you for real? PM doesn’t owe you a damn explanation for everything he does buttercup. Just let it all play out

What a melt. He gave an explanation. If I’m to believe him, then it means Walker had a setback. That’s fine. I don’t believe him. Hell, Walker is starting 3 days later and is basically on the same pitch count as Hess.

Explain the metric the 3 hitter hits with 2 outs and 0 runners on base more than anyone?

Because the 3 hole bats third in the 1st inning every game.

Mainieri liked Smith batting first for his potential to hit leadoff home runs. He preferred to bat Duplantis third because of Duplantis’ affinity for coming through in “clutch” moments, he said. The coach debated switching Smith and Duplantis throughout preseason practice before he settled on a decision earlier this week.

“It’s just a gut feeling,” Mainieri said.

In case anyone wanted to know if PM did this based on any metrics at all.

I think Smith gets at least 10 HR's as well.

Ive changed my mind on the walker situation. Actually havjng listened to PM speak on it now, i believe walker is being held for that first road environment. He has done that before with freshman. But i also believe walker isnt all the way back to where he was pre-injury.
I no longer believe he is having setbacks

Then why do you need him to share more knowledge with you? Take it for what it's worth and get the salt out your vag
