Miles will get Sheppard one game eligibility and let him finally throw that pass.

So what would you consider a square peg in a round hole approach? A. Trying to run the ball (which is our strength), into a stacked box. or B. Trying to throw the ball, which we suck at, into man to man coverage?

Good point

Win and none of the above applies. So let's just win.

This on the other hand is very similar to the "we won, so that means there is nothing wrong with the game plan" theory. Why even game plan at all if that's the case?

Their defense is nowhere close to as good as that 2011 defense. Their game plan is simply "stop the run."

Agreed. It's nowhere as good as either 'Bama or LSU from '11. UT ran the ball effectively at times against 'Bama. AJ will need to be prepared to scamper for positive yards a bit quicker than he's been doing IMO. The play-action game will work, especially if they are forced to creep the safeties forward which I believe will happen. LSU's offense is capable of moving and scoring on 'Bama. Proper effort, execution and efficiency will do the trick because the talent is there.

Winning means the game plan worked, therefore there is no square peg in round whole, there is round peg in nice juicy round hole.

That's what I meant by it doesn't apply if we win.

You mean ask Gregg Williams for help again?
do people not know that saban cheated in the title game or do they just not care?

("cheated" = greg williams watched LSU practice in the superdome and then "helped" kirby smart gameplan for the option, even though williams has been in the NFL for over 20 years and never even seen the option, and jordan jefferson wasnt exactly tommie frazier so why would saban even need help? unless it was the same kind of "help" his mentor belichik got when he taped the rams before the superbowl.)

Bama 2011 is statistically the best Defensive unit in CFB history.

If not, why not?
Why not, we basically have one offensive style, and the same type of QB we had then.

They don't have to be the best to employ an effective 11/9-like strategy that makes us LSU fans get frustrated with a lot of 3-and-outs.

I personally think the Ole Miss run game success will lull Miles into thinking the line has all of its mojo and wrinkles out of the way, and that Bama is a similar match-up, and that has me concerned. I hope we barrel right over them, but we should not expect the same seems up the middle due to the size differential of the Bama versus OM front 7's, not to mention the safety's.

I have been saying this for weeks...

It is not Saban;s game plan...it is logical.

a) We have yet to prove that we are willing to throw short / quick passes
b) Long passes take time.

so the logical play is what he did on the NC game..load the box, come at all speed and see if we can complete any passes.
If we do, he will have to back up and respect,
if we do not, we will see a re-run.

We need a few short passes to loosen the line and open the run.

Yeah but Bama does not have the studs that defense had
Jennings will have to move the chains and become a true dual threat for LSU to win, get ball out to RB's, TE's and FB (jones).
No turnovers like Ole Miss game
Still amazing LSU beat Ole Miss with 2 picks and 2 fumbles

For some reason I think Jennings comes out and plays the best game he's ever played Saturday.

I also get the feeling that he'll put it all together. He's been getting closer & closer the last few games. Perhaps the extra week of prep will help mend the loose ends.

To be honest, I don't care which approach we take or Bama takes.

I'll be watching, rooting for the Tigers and hoping that if we run it we are able to pick up those though yards to move the chains and wear down the D. If we mix in the passes, I'll be watching and hoping that we can complete enough of them for enough yardage to make a difference and avoid mistakes.

Either way I'll be all in for the Tigers.

Let's just hope we don't use our 1/9/12 game plan.

you are right...
but he will put as many bodies in the middle as he can until we prove we can pass.
if he has to back up, our RBs can run on them.
