I think we can all agree that Marcus Freeman would be awesome, but I’d say there’s a 95% chance he either gets hired as the new ND coach or they hire his boy Fickell. So I think he’s out.
Daronte will probably get an interview, and frankly, I think he’s earned another solid DC job somewhere, even if it isn’t LSU. Closing the season with point totals allowed of 20, 16, and 24 points against top 25 Bama, Arky, and A&M teams (with all our injuries!) is pretty damn good.
Mike Elko will get some buzz because of the Kelly ties, but he makes a ton of money at A&M and he will probably get head coaching looks.
Jeremy Pruitt is a good DC who obviously knows the SEC. would probably jump to get back in the league. Not sure if he’s off limits due to the recruiting violation allegations.
Jimmy Lake is available and was a very good DC for Washington. Has nfl experience, etc.
Either Lanning or Schumann from Georgia would be exciting, but idk how obtainable either of those guys is.
Any other names y’all like?

No.
I’d give the guy that’s currently at MSU a call

Lanning and Schumann are co-DC. You think at least one of them would like the full title.

Pruitt is likely untouchable
Jimmy Lake would probably be a homerun hire at DC

def could see this. CBK needs his SEC sherpa, and Pruitt is a damn good dc. of course he comes with a shite load of baggage.

They’d hire a DC who’s only coached there 1 year?

I think Jones and most of the defensive staff stays

First, talk to Elko. Not my #1 choice but screwing with Aggie Land is fun and make them pay him more! Plus, if he bites, I’ll allow it.
Second, Freeman. Wanted him before and still do. But most likely ND HC, or new Cincinnati HC if Fickell goes ND.
Third, Lanning but think he’s HC bound. Schumann probably stays Georgia DC.
Now for the get ables.
#1 Pruitt, Kelly like Saban can rehab a coach with national sportswriter’s approval. Get 5 good years. Plus if you ain’t cheating you ain’t trying, just ask Saban!
#2 Jones, didn’t like the start of year, but got better. Masterful job against Bama! Already on staff so don’t need a #3.
