Give it a rest. These are only bad decisions in your opinion.

Disagree with the last one there. Jaluke needed to go, and the day after NSD was the time to do it. He is not a good recruiter at all, and while a decent coach, he should have made sure that his boy Guice knew what the play was at the end of the Florda game....kind of a big deal...

#2 & #3 are nitpicking and very subjective...he ended up getting a great OC in the end, and while saying we needed a DT qb was a mistake, I do realize that he was trying to make a statement to the people of LA that we were going to change our offensive style to beat Alabama and that involves having a mobile QB...even if he isn't a true DT quarterback as in Brennon's or Etling's case.

I think #1 is probably the only reasonable complaint here as he should have stepped in and pulled LF7 in this instance.

I'm not mad he fired Craig or Jaluke, I'm questioning the decision to do it the next morning. What could it have hurt to wait till the weekend. From a PR standpoint, the next morning was dumb.

And potentially let our new hires continue to be on the market for other jobs? We know how that bodes with Alleva going up against competition.

You have some valid points Jack but let's see what he does on the field. I was totally against this BS hire but I think he can be successful as long as he keeps top notch coordinators at his side at all times. This formula may just work.

So letting a once in a generation-type player play in a game is wrong? Got it.

quote:

When hired, made the comment in press conference saying he wants a dual threat QB and offering the Hawaian QB therefore alienating a committed top 10 QB.

That was a mistake. Hopefully he will learn from it. You will agree that it was "no harm, no foul" - as we kept both committed QBs, won't you?

- letting his buddy Kiffin dictate the OC hire timeline and cause more turmoil in recruiting.

Maybe this was going on - I'm not sure. Kiffin says he was "never" coming to LSU - if they were such good buddies, one would think he would have told O that - unless he used us as a stalking horse when he was interviewing with school way, way down the trough. Perhaps another lesson learned.

quote:

- firing Jaluke the morning after signing day and alienating players and NO high school coaches.

We had to have a vacancy to make a new hire. The optics are bad, no doubt. But - he did right by Juluke by keeping him on the payroll until he found a new spot. Many of the coaches are on contract through signing day - and Craig was the RC (in title - may have been some friction as Thomas took on a bigger and bigger role).

And, in the final analysis - whatever I think of Juluke (it must be conceded that his position group was successful for the season, 2 new single game rushing records), Juluke and Craig seriously underperformed on the recruiting trail - as these coaches are considered recruiters first and Xs and Os guys second, that is probably all the justification needed.

Now I know some of you cannot question reality because of your purple glasses but at what point do we question the decision making and the direction of the program?

I'm as reasonable a dude as you're likely to find on this planet.

Are we still doing this? Really? Everyone and their momma knew that O was third choice going into the hiring process.

Jimbo wanted stupid money.
Herman never really wanted to be here.
Get over it bud.

If Saban had done these exact things you would just call it the process.

Winning will cure cancer and let's all just hope that O can do that.

You lead off with this?
I love Guice, but he fumbled inside the five and went the wrong way on the last play of the game, and its because LF7 took carries from him?

Got shut out at home in one loss. Suffered an embarrassing home loss against an outmatched and injury depleted team in the other. 6-2 record spread out over a full year is 9-3 or 8-4. We just fired the coach that guaranteed those records.

The fact that the Florida loss didn't 100% end the Ed O fascination from our administration is inexcusable.

At this point what can be gained by questioning him before he even begins his first year of coaching? If losses and poor play result out of his hire, then all these things that your are whining about actually then begin to take on some importance and are worth reviewing for the big picture. But since the man has just begun and has only coached one game as the official head coach all of these issues seem petty and minor until we see what happens on the field. I don't think any of these that you list are particularly egregious anyway. But that's just me. We need to support him since he's our coach and that's not going to change for another 3 years at least. I'm not sure what you want to happen? Do you want him fired now? Of course that wouldn't make sense so it seems you just want to whine?

Your first three points have varrying degrees of merit, but the uproar over Juluke is just bullshite. He didn't deliver and he's gone. End of fricking story. Grimes, the only offensive staff holdover, actually brought in a solid class and filled a big position of need at OT with a top recruit. There is no mystery here, and frick all of the NOLA HS coaches for this nonsense. Their buddy didn't get the job done and he's out.

Hey man, they do not like unpopular facts in here. Nowadays they will defend anything in here. Just remember at one point Les Miles couldn't do any wrong...now Coach O can't do any wrong.
