Why? We are clearly better than they are. Why should 2019 LSU be afraid to play 2019 Bama again?

Because it's always harder to beat a team the second time. The loser of the first game almost always wins the rematch. If we were going up against Les Miles, I'd say bring on the Gumps, but we're not. They have everything to gain and we have everything to lose.

I think we all would love to beat them again and end this, but what if we lose? Are you willing to take that risk, because it's a pretty damn hefty one to take. I don't think our fanbase could survive a repeat of 1/9/12, and there's a good possibility that it could happen.

Bama doesn't deserve it. They haven't earned it. We don't have to prove anything to them or anyone else. We won the game on the field.

Considering this team doesn't share 2011's weakness, this is an absurd take.

It's not about whether or not we can beat them again -- I have no doubt we would.

It's about whether or not the risk is worth playing them again. What's the point? What do you gain by beating them again that you don't gain by beating Ohio State or Clemson or Oklahoma or Oregon or Utah or Minnesota or Penn State?

What you risk is losing to them and Nick and the entire Bama staff being able to use that as a recruiting point: they got their win on a Tua injury. Look at that fluke win. Same thing happened in 2011 when they beat us 9-6. We missed 5 field goals. It was a fluke. And then we beat them for 10 years. Come to us. Win championships year in and year out.

Screw them

Shoulda thought about that before scheduling Duke as their premier non-conference match up.

They've played one ranked team and had records shattered on their defense.

This "trust me they are good" crap in college football has to die.

Who here is saying they deserve to be there? Why is it impossible for yall to separate whether they deserve to be there with whether we'd beat them again?

If your first win was a fluke, sure. See 2011.

I'd love for you to back this up with actual stats.

They are already wanting people to sign a petition to fire Nick Saban for losing to LSU once... just think what they will want to do to him if he loses twice in one season..

LINK -- First google search. Take a look. Regular season losers are 15-7 in the bowl rematch.

The only team in the last 10 years that has 2 national titles with no division or conference championship! The answer is not no, but hell no!

1 - Agree they don't deserve to be there
2 - Maybe we beat them again, maybe we don't
3 - The point of this entire argument, as it always will be, is that we shouldn't be playing them again and we shouldn't be willing/wanting to play them again because the risk is not worth the reward.

Why does that exclude match ups like 2003 LSU-UGA? Or any other matchup like that?

The reward is the national championship. If they are who we have to go through, it is absolutely worth it. Quit being scared of the big bad bama.

Anything can happen when two good teams play each other. To act as if we have no chance of losing is moronic. The percentages aren’t in our favor in a rematch so it’s dumb to actually want to play them again. Yes I think we are the better team but the better team doesn’t always win and that’s especially true in a rematch.

Uhhh because it is giving you stats on regular season rematches that occur in bowl games, which is this exact scenario that we are discussing.

You think the nail is bigger by having them make it (AGAIN) to the CFP?

I think a better "nail" is to have them relegated to a nice bowl game...but, that is ALL

So you're going to exclude data that doesn't fit your opinion? Pretty sure conference championship games are postseason games too.

Agree. But that is the same reward regardless of who we play.

The risk of having to recruit against your same division foe is not present against any of the other teams you would face in the playoff.

Of course i'd love to beat bama again. Of course that means we're in or won a NC. Again, the risk/reward analysis isn't the same for Bama as it is for other teams.

It's not my data -- i am not, in 5 minutes (or ever for that matter) about to go through every single rematch that has ever happened.

But when i google search and come across someone who already has, for the exact senario we are talking about, i think i am pretty good with that.

Thanks for finding one different example. Here's one for you: how come it excludes Texas OU from last year? Looks like that knocks out your fine 03 example. Go dig yourself.
