But that doesn't mean I agree with taking a bunch of elite 4 and 5 star athletes and using them to 'play down' with that philosophy so that we can brag about 'come from behind victories'.
I didn't know Miles is using his future NFL draft picks to "play down". Must hurt their career and our success. Oh wait...it doesn't. You do know other teams with same talent play this way? and you people completely forget about last year's offense. frustrating to be around these constantly complaining fans

LSU needs the capability to strike quick when it has to
Why?

strike fast - that is dural's sole function.

This isn't a court trial that you can 'win'. It's opinion based, many people have their opinions about Miles, that's why he's the most talked about person on this board, and why thousands of threads have been started about him and continue to be started.
meh, the reason hes talked about so much is the "sky is falling" mentality of the fanbase. It doesnt matter what coach is at LSU, he or she will be the main topic of discussion on this baord.

The conversation is about second guessing miles and how other teams are faring better with a different system. Auburn is not a good example. Chizik had a once in a decade player and got fired after that because he sucks and you want to use that as proof that auburn is showing how miles can do it differently?
Malzahn was 2 ridiculous, miraculous plays from being no better than miles. Moreover, MILES BEAT HIM STRAIGHT UP. Yet, you want to use him as an example of how to do it better. Let's see malzahn keep it up for another 5 years at least before we put him in miles' category.
You can converse about whatever you wish. I am merely pointing out that two teams, not one, have won more SEC titles than us since '08. Similarly, you can infer what you wish from this historical fact. But it's a fact nonetheless. 2 > 1. Got it?
If you're going to assess Les's performance by comparing him to other coaches, then it is inconsistent to discard Malzahn's "ridiculous" plays unless you dismiss others as well - including ours. They had their comebacks. We've had ours. They all count.
FTR, Les is 1-1 head-up with Malzahn. I'm not putting anybody in anybody's category. Rather, I'm using your criteria to show the fallacy of your line of reasoning.
You make some lame-claim, it gets challenged on factual grounds, and then you introduce new criteria, e.g., "pitfalls", "5 years", "lightning in a bottle," takeaway Auburn's plays, . . . and the cycle repeats.
Want another one of your disingenuous claims: "A 3k yard passer is not average." True enough on the surface, but we ranked 45th (out of 125 teams) in passing last year.
Wait for it . . .

This is why our style benefits us in the west. We will constantly give a&m, ole miss, MSU (most years ) etc. Fits. With that said we must have the ability to get more efficient passing the football. Harris can give us that once he learns our pro style. Big jump from HS spread to a cam Cameron nfl type scheme.

spitballin again huh? miles does on many occasions give fodder to the "negas."

you seem to have an agenda to try to make other people think the same way you think

It's opinion based

why does it make you so miserable?

quote:you haven't shown any fallacy whatsoever. you're using flawed examples to try to disparage miles' accomplishments. malzahn has been at auburn for a very short amount of time. there is no way in the world to say that over a any period of time, his spread offense system with him as head coach is producing more wins. it frankly is not. and you even admitted miles is 1-1 straight up.
Rather, I'm using your criteria to show the fallacy of your line of reasoning.
the only person for any length of time playing equal competition who can equal miles is saban. iow, miles' system works as good as anybody's. he makes the adjustments that need to be made and he calls the plays that need to be called in order to win. but i understand that's not good enough for you
quote:nothing in any of these criteria i posted is not factual or unreasonable. negas on the other hand, can only refer to subjective things like
"pitfalls", "5 years", "lightning in a bottle," takeaway Auburn's plays, . . . and the cycle repeats.
"more balance"
"not improving fast enough"
"doesn't recruit well"
"can't develop qb's"
"doesn't use talent right"
"too conservative"
quote:it's nothing of the sort. how often are there 3k yard passers in the sec west over the last 10 years? you show proof that miles is willing to open it up when appropriate and can't even realize it disproves what negas say about miles.
another one of your disingenuous claims
your definition of factual is creative

1. you only go back to '08. why do negas keep discounting '06, '07, '13 and the first half of '11? it's an artificial sample size
2. miles has 1, auburn has 1. miles appeared in another, auburn appeared in another. that's equal.
3. you conveniently don't acknowledge that auburn had a LOSING SEASON and don't give miles credit for avoiding that.
4. auburn had 2 coaches. miles outlasted chizik. care to guess why? so it's not like auburn's "system" is faring better than miles'
5. you keep touting malzahn who hasn't been a head coach at the highest level long enough to discern any substantive trends compared to miles.
6. like auburn has more "balance" on offense than miles. heck, they run it MORE than miles in some games.
7. even if auburn is granted, is that it? 2 teams means miles needs to realize he's off track with the offense and should look around the cfb landscape for suggestions on how to win more games?
these are the gymnastics that negas will go to disparage miles. miles wins games more successfully than anybody except saban.
