many seem disappointed. Some seem to also be thinking they're getting the guy we thought we were getting when we hired Trent as well....
quote:

The key will be if he can recruit this (NoTX) area. I still say that's a must have if we want to step up and become competitive. I think that's what wound up killing CND and CJC. They simply could never get any traction in the local recruiting scene.

If CTJ can start bringing in local talent to fill in the roster and then have the ability to get 1-2 4* types every other year, he will propser.

In the end I think this is a good hire for where we currently sit in the grand scheme of things

prepare to be let down sir.

quote:

The fools flipping [Craig James] about CTJ are idiots that thought we could get a brand name coach. Our new coach was incredibly successful at Stanford, a school much more similar to the kind of institution and fan base we Frogs have. He just wasn't a good fit at LSU.

Count on me to support CTJ and our men's basketball program as we enter a new era with Coach Johnson in the Big 12. Thanks to CDC for finding an experienced Head Coach from the SEC and PAC who knows what it takes to win, has led teams to the Big Dance, and is willing to take on the onerous task to rebuild a defunct program in Fort Worth.

Godspeed, Coach Johnson, screw the haters, & Go Frogs!

quote:

The guy stresses defense and good post play. I'm looking forward to seeing:

1) How he develops the inside games of Amric and Garlon
2) Can he keep Ryan Rhoomes
3) He recruits BASKETBALL players and teaches the fundamentals.
4) He recruits student athletes who go to class and stay out of trouble

Oh and he's been to the NCAA tournament with three different schools and made the Sweet 16 with two of them. Seriously...... what's not to like? He had two bad years at lsu - a program that had lost three scholarships because they can't graduate anyone and the fan base gave him crap for recruiting kids that would actually attend class.

I'm not predicting a national championship in basketball for the frogs anytime soon but this guy does kinda sound like the second coming of the Killer. I know a lot of you young pups weren't even alive when Killer was roaming the sidelines but DMC rocked with damn good basketball.

The proof will come in four or five years. CTJ may not be the right guy - I sure thought CJC was and look how that turned out. But give the guy a chance. Our administration has IMO earned the right to be trusted on new hires.

He may stress solid play and good D but he can't coach either for shite and our players for the most part looked fundamentally retarded much of the time. Again.....prepare to be disappointed.
quote:

Let the recruiting begin!

Unathletic white players in Texas area should be pumped because schollies will soon become available to them

quote:

This is the same guy that recruited the Lopez twins and Landry Fields to Stanford. He's a hard nosed defensive coach. Fantastic hire!

I don't know about Fields, but the Lopez twins were Montgomery holdovers, no?

we didn't need to learn fundamental basketball like rebounding and setting screens. We sucked at dribbling, passing, and moving without the ball

no problem I'll give you the short version:

TCU fans can't wait for three point shots that hit nothing but backboard from their 5ft 7in shooting guard

Hey TCU fans, good luck with Mr Excitement. Y'all just keep watching his dodgeball vid over & over again to see what a zany mad-capped guy Trent is. Top recruits are drawn to Trent like a magnet. Get ready for your high energy charismatic coach.

I call bullshite on this one. How do you play D with two starters (Hickey and Stringer) that are under six feet tall. He's not that bad of a coach. His problem was recruiting and nothing more.

So all of his coaching short comings were due to hickey and stringer?
