The left side of the line is the big ???? for sure. Barksdale moving to LT, a position he's never played before, is a big challenge for him. I wish we had a Herman Johnson-type returning at LG to play alongside Barksdale....ahhhhhh but maybe we do as the season progresses. I'm not sold yet on Josh Dworaczyk, but with a season and another spring/summer under his belt, improvement should be made. If not, I'm anxious to see the other Josh.....Josh Williford and all 6'7" 340lbs of him. Maybe he's a Herman Johnson Jr waiting for his shot at game action. Whoever is lining up at LG, one thing is going to happen and right out the gate against UNC. Barksdale will get some help from TEs, HBs, and RBs chipping on the RDE. He will get some help until he shows he doesn't need it. Which I hope is by the 2nd Qtr. As for the C, RG, and RT, I'm more confident in these guys than at any point last season. Lonergan has been able to get a load of reps in during the spring. This will only add to his confidence, and I'm anxious to see him perform after getting that kind of seasoning. Blackwell and Hurst are the future stars and that future begins Sep 4.

I met him this weekend and I call BS on the 285 listing. He looks more 270-275 tops. Not very big at all.

Great thread. It's good to see the Rant is starting to throw off it's offseason "all QB comparisons and coaching hotseast all the time" torpor.
I was just thinking we should start dedicating a thread to each position. But yeah, a thread on the O-line is great.
So, what's it look like at center? Seems like Lonegan is penciled in as starter. Is Hebert healthy and in good standing with the team? Are there any up and comming young guys at center?

PJ is the starter esp. with T-Bob's DWI. Blackwell can fill in at OC if needed as well.

Lonergand beat out Hebert in the spring before Hebert got hurt.

I think we are a bit thin across the board.
I threw in Cam Fordham just to add depth, this year, but he ain't playing unless at TE. With Lowe leaving, I am scared that we will have to go injury-free.
I also don't think Branch will crack the two deep, either, but look how many TE's we have.
We better not get hurt up front. Washington will play, too. With all the OL's we have coming in next year, he will need to go ahead and play...starter or not. Also, don't look for Jordan Allen or Nic Jacobs to play Tackle, either. The 2011 class may force them to remain blocking TEs.
