Never said that, LSU did make a significant offer and a raise for him. One that made him stay, he didn't stay for his same salary.
However using that as loyalty is absurd because in each situation Les got what he wanted, a raise. Saban situation was completely different in that he accepted what was perceived a greater challenge.
He didn't leave LSU for Alabama which it seems many believe happened. He left for the NFL which we all knew would eventually happen.

You can't mention Saban without people seeing it as a shot at Les
You can't mention Les without some seeing it as a shot at Saban
That's why this board is awesome, no middle ground

How so? Because Kirk said he was gone? We don't know the specific dollar amount Michigan offered, you could assume but we know what he makes at LSU. Reports were 4 million and LSU came in at 3.75 but those aren't always accurate and more about saving face
the report was that Michigan offered more and he turned them down.

A fair number of people on here go into a tizzy or a complete meltdown any time Bama or Saban is mentioned on this board,
because people get tired of the Sabanistas bringing him up every time someone wants to discuss Les Miles. This thread is a perfect example....look at the title.

The report came from a TAF member and one was written by Glenn Gluibeau

so you measure the greatness of a coach on how other school's wimpy fans react at the mention of his name on a message board...

Proving my point that Miles is still a controversial and not necessarily universally respected coach of LSU (at least among the fanbase) is this exact thread for example.
This same topic comes up every couple of months and usually results in 10-20 page threads of fans bantering back and forth about his faults as well as his foibles. If he was such a great coach, universally loved, best ever, GOAT, or whatever other superlatives you wanted to heap upon him, the thread would last a day and have a couple of yaay, hurrah posts in it from various fanboys and then it would go away.
Instead you see a lot of various opinions of the guy, both pro and con, but certainly not a broad base of support by what you could argue are the most vocal fans who post on a message board and care about the program.

less than 10% of the posters in this thread have bitched about Miles. you're a loud, obnoxious minority

This one turned on first page by KJ and me asking him, why and that his reasoning wasn't sound then posters questioning my reasoning....

1. trolls
2. qualities inherent in many LSU fans
3. folks not liking Miles from day 1 seemingly unable to get over it

MY POINT is that the earth is round. That's about as earth-shattering as your point is. No one has argued that Miles isn't controversial. The thread a couple of days ago took off when some jackass from Alabama said that 100% of the people he talks to say that Miles is a douche bag. Controversial isn't a word that I'd pair with 100%. Miles supporters (count me in) are aware that some don't like him.

hmmm...funny...I don't see Sabans name in there anywhere.
The OP asked what fans liked/disliked about CLM. It was a pretty straight forward ? and then of course NS's name came up, which it invariably does. They both coached here...of course they're going to be compared.
I've never understood why people get so GD irate when Saban's name is mentioned. It's ridiculous.
CLM's record stands on its own merits....as ppl point out all the time. Why the insufferable insecurity???

Yea somebody earlier brought up Les's loyalty to LSU...which I do believe now is unquestioned....but he sure as hell pulled a fast one in that situation.
Yet the haters say he never was offered by Michigan because he is a terrible coach.

It's telling, imo, that the only coach the "not taken with Miles" crowd seeks to use as some kinda measuring stick is Nick Saban. Which puts Miles in some damn fine company if you ask me.
It's kinda like you telling me your G/F is better than mine cause yours came in 1st in the Miss Louisiana contest and mine came in 3rd.
You really need to get over your "fear" of Bama stuff. No team of consequence in the SEC or nationally fears playing Bama. That's the kinda of continual extreme statements that raises the troll alert warning in the back of my mind.
